PART 4:::

"It's not done Sandracottus. I taught you the Greek war-tactics and in return you should teach me the Indian sword-fighting skills. Come on, tell me how do you perform such vaults and moves that you often look like flying on the sky?" Helena beamed and her ivory white teeth shined just like the sharp blade of the sword in sun. "I am sorry Helena that I can't teach you these tactics. For these are not any standard war tactics learnt from my shastraguru; all these moves that grab your eyeballs are the result of my own experiments with my body and my sword; It is all because of my own long practice that I almost overcome the hurdle of gravity while fighting, and my body becomes a weightless feather which can fly in sky. It is not so easy Maharani! " Chandra smiled back and swung his sword in air, and both of their swords collided with each other with a glittering sparkle. Helena smiled endearingly with a lot of appreciation in her eyes. "You are a sorcerer, Sandrocottus. You can do magic with your weapons!"

"Thank you so much, Helena! You are no less though." Chandra told while continuing his practice with his wife. "Really Helena, I never have seen such an accomplished lady like you! You are just a perfect mixture of valour, skill, courage and brain..."

"You forgot beauty?" Helena smiled with a girly mysteriousness, while her sword was eventually near Chandra's throat and her face was just in a 5 inch distance from Chandra's lips. "You are weird Sandracottus, you never appreciated you wife for her beauty? Am I not beautiful?" She laughed in pure fun but a lot of different unreadable emotions were playing in her eyes.

"Beauty- especially a woman's beauty is not my cup of tea."Chandra joined in her laughter while defending her attack perfectly. He vaulted back and took his position splashing his sword against the air. "Do you think beauty really has any value at all?"

"Of course my dear Sandrocottus! Beauty is a woman's pride!" Helena smiled mysteriously again. "And in case beauty is a woman's greatest weapon too!"

"And women know to utilize that weapon very well!" Chandra became distracted for a moment. He remembered that night with Nandini- her moves, her smile, her alluring glare which turned into brand of fire all of a sudden in viciousness... How the beautiful princess had planned almost perfectly to gift him death, with the weapon of her beauty! None knows, but he cannot hide from himself, that he could not spend a single lone moment after that night when those beautiful, fiery and vicious eyes did not flash in his memory...His heart suddenly filled with a strange antipathy. Why the hell he is unable to forget and ignore that almost negligible event with Nandputri in his eventful life!

"What are you thinking Sandrocottus?" Helena asked looking her partner unmindful. "Nothing!" Chandra forcefully tried to remove the thought. "Enough for today I think." He smiled looking at Helena's sword before turning back.

"Sandracottus!"

"Yes, Helena..." Chandra looked back. Helena was not looking free and nonchalant as she was looking some moments ago while practicing. There was a strange trace of angry dissatisfaction which is clearly imprinted in her face. "What happened?"

"You really feel that I am a uniquely accomplished woman, don't you? You think that beauty does not matter at all to judge a human..."

"Absolutely..."

"You are unique Chandra!" Helena sighed while a cloud of hidden agony slowly covering her hazel orbs. "Perhaps you are the first man, who praised me this way; who appreciated my merit, not my beauty! There was a man who used to praise my beauty day and night... and I was so stupid that I could not understand he is not praising me, he is fascinated to my beauty- same way a man gets fascinated with the most beautiful toy, he played with me and threw me out when I became old for him! You can never know that how it feels when the most loving one insults this way!" She touched his hands affectionately. "Thank you Sandracottus- for standing by me, for understanding me."

The skill of handling any sentimental person, especially if she is a woman, is completely unknown to Chandra. He could not understand what to do other than patting on her palms and giving an assuring smile. "Believe me, you are wonderful. Malayketu is not even worth of your hatred."

"I know!" Helena smiled brighter this time. The smile reflected the fire of her revenge which is suppressed inside her heart from years. "I believe that I am wonderful; and I have ability to do what actually I want from this world! And I will show him that!"

"Is it necessary to think about the same person in every moment whom you hate from core?"

"You are a great warrior Sandracottus, but you are novice in case of emotions." Helena came closer. "There is a very slight difference between love and hatred. Both of them are generated from the same source, so both reflect the same action. Just like one cannot live without thinking about the person he loves the most, at the same time he keeps on thinking about the person he hates the most. And who knows better than me that it takes only a moment to change the love into hatred!"

"I will never understand these riddles of love and emotions." Smiling, Chandra loosed her hand while puffing his sweat with the piece of towel.

"You better not. You are best in the way you are." Helena smiled. "Anyways, when will you get Malayketu in front of my feet?"

"Have faith on me." Chandra assured her.

"I trust you. But I just can't wait anymore! He insulted me saying that I am the daughter of a slave; he insulted me by taunting my character, my heredity and my linage! Now it's time to show him that who am I! I can't wait for the day when that crooked man will beg for mercy in front on Maghadh's patrani!" Helena blabbered in one chance out of her excitement!

"And what after that? What after you take your revenge from Malayketu?" Chandra said amusedly. Helena looked at his face shockingly. Perhaps she had never thought about it before...

"Never mind... One should not think so much before touching the goal." Chandra patted on her shoulder laughing at her thoughtful face. "Just aim for your revenge and move forward... just as you did before! Malayketu will be in front of you very very soon. I promise!"

"Thank you so much Sandracottus!" Helena bowed her head. "There is a dangerous power in the urge of revenge of a woman. People like Malayketu should feel that!"

"You are right! Perhaps the fire of revenge is the greatest weapon of a woman; she burns the world along with burning herself!" Chandra seemed unmindful again. His mind again starting roaming in that night with Nandini... The fire of Nandini's eyes... "I don't want your respect Chandragupta, I want revenge!'" How much dreadful that fire of revenge is?

God! Again he is thinking about that woman! Is that spark in her eyes becoming his obsession?

"What the hell she is doing here?" Helena's irritated voice took him back in the real world again. "Who?" Chandra looked near the entrance passage. It was Nandini, as usual guarded by the special safeguards. His brows automatically frowned while a slight smile caught his lips for no reason. "Good Morning Nandputri!" He greeted in a chivalrous courtesy. Nandini bent her head out of respect to the king.

"I thought this girl is being house-arrested, Maharaj! So either I got it wrong, or I don't know the definition of house-arresting!" Helena taunted cruelly.

Chandra looked at Helena's extremely disgusted face with amused eyes, then directly looked at Nandini's guards with a question. "The Queen-Mother had ordered us to let her meet her family in prison, my lord!" One of the soldiers answered.

"Rajmata has given me permission to meet my family once in a day in the prison. I did not intend to break any rules..." Nandini presented her excuse with a usual dignity. "It's only we were passing through this place, and I got attracted by the sound of clanging of swords and..."

"Great! So Rajmata will even now allow you to meet your criminal family over the king's order and..." Helena could not conclude, as Chandragupta's stony glare to her compelled her to stop. "Rajmata can allow her so Helena, if she thinks this right. You should not have any problem with her decisions." He stated calmly. Helena composed herself at once, and charged at one guard... "She stopped here and you people just abode by her orders? Have you forgotten that she is a prisoner?"

"We are extremely sorry, Yours Highness!" All of them admitted together and prepared to go to Nandini's room... Helena suddenly stopped them.

"Nandini, I know you love sword-fighting. Don't you?" She suddenly asked, with a cruel acidic spark of revenge in her eyes. "So this place must have been the most favourite place of you in this palace?"

Nandini nodded, refraining herself from showing any kind of emotion.

"So, what about a duel?" Helena smirked. "Do you remember we met in Parvatak for first time, and we had a duel fight? So let's remember those good old days, my old friend!"

Nandini stayed quiet, her eyes were vacant. Why she is asking for a duel? A stupid idea of showing own superiority? In this case Nandini cannot abide by her. She tried to show that she just does not care of this arrogant yavani! Helena came in front of her and pointed a sword in front of eyes. "Take your position..."

"I don't feel to fight now!" Nandini was ready to get off the place.

"The queen of Magadh is ordering you!" Helena's voice echoed.

Nandini gazed at her face, with pitiful vacant glare! Then she smiled with helpless sarcasm, with a good amount of princely arrogance in eyes. "As you wish, your highness!"

Two skilled ladies indulged into a friendly duel. No need to give an elaborate description of their fight, only it will be enough to say that there was hardly any sign of friendship in this friendly duel. While a sword was clanging with raged resentment, another one was colliding with that with passionate pride. They fought for a long time, and none was less than the other. Just at a moment Helena's sword was touching Nandini's throat, while Nandini had skilfully defended her attack, they were forced to be distracted and stop with a sound of clap.

"Very well done ladies!" Chandra spoke out in a very calm and measured voice. They did not feel his presence, so both of the queens looked at him with surprise. Chandra moved forward, and came in front of Nandini. "I am very much known to Helena's skills; but did not witness your skill from close. I must admit you are a wonderful fighter!"

"Thank you Your Majesty! I apologise for telling so, but your majesty, you are not completely unknown to my warrior skills..." Nandini smiled respectfully. "Long ago right in this Magadh, in a full moon night, we had a duel sword-fight between us! Maybe his majesty cannot even think that a woman can fight equally with a man; so he preferred to forget that incident." Her smile turned into sarcasm.

"Of course I did not forget Nandputri! How can I forget how you ruined my most important mission that way?" After gazing at her sparkling eyes for a moment Chandragupta sniggered. "That day you're in a disguise of a male, and your sword was talking in the language of a warrior. You're eyes were sparkling the ray of valour and courage that day... not like this recent night, when in a disguise of a eager, seductress bride, by spreading webs of sensuality in the air you were ready to kill a man after drowning him in your intoxication! So maybe that recent picture has overlapped on that image of a warrior princess in my mind!"

Nandini for once felt a jolt of embarrassment from her conscience, as the truth in Chandragupta's words stung inside, making her to look much more inferior in front of him! But since her silence will obviously prove her defeat, she started once again. "What a woman can do your majesty, when she will never get an opportunity to fight against her enemy in a war? Some chivalrous men think fighting with a woman may hamper their virtue of being a khsatriya veer!"

"It's indeed a great logic of justifying own misdeed!" Chandra sniggered again. "Well, my dear lady; I certainly follow that principle mentioned by you, and that's not for snatching anyone's opportunity or right; that's only because I respect women... Every woman is a symbol of motherhood, and I can't raise my weapon on my mother. Well leave it, you will not understand!" He sighed hopelessly. "Anyways, since you have wedged war against me and registered yourself as my enemy, I have no reason to show my back. If you demanded something, as a king I am bound to look into that matter and fulfil your demands! You want a fair opportunity right?"

"I did not mean it... I am extremely sorry if I..." Nandini tried to cover herself.

"Nandini..." Chandra's voice suddenly rose in a slight louder bit, then he was cool like always. "Let's come to the point. Do you want to fight with me?"

"No Your Majesty!" Nandini uttered.

"So you do not want a fair chance of avenging the death of your family?" Chandragupta's cold smile was unbearable. He effortlessly rotated the blade of the heavy sword in front of her eyes. "As far as I remember, you were eager to fight with me at the day of battle; so eager that you did not hesitate to throw a knife in my back after the time of battle was over, and also awarded me with a title of cowardice, and questioned my masculinity for abiding by the principles of a warrior," the sting of taunt in his speech was clearly piercing Nandini. "So now? You are not ready to try a duel with me? Why? Is it a special quality of Nand dynasty that all of them feel comfortable to attack behind back?"

Nandini placed her eyes on his eyes. They had started flaming in fury again like that night, but as expected that flame of fire could not overpower the icy-cold glare anyway. Chandragupta kept on looking at her, with a slight aversion in his smirking eyes, keeping on swinging his sword effortlessly like a feather. "Come on Nandputri!" He addressed again. With swinging the sword- one... two... three...

CLASHHH!

Nandini's fierce sword sprung up like a bolt, and clung with the sword of Chandragupta. Light flashed out from the point of the clash. Chandragupta's eyes beamed in an amused spark of victory. Nandini stepped back for two steps, and her sword swished in the air mercilessly. Chandra observed her movements for a moment with a calculating eye, then vaulted back suddenly as Nandini's sword was going to pierce him. With a slight smile intact on his lips, he casually swayed his sword against her fierce moves. The first miss flamed up Nandini's rage, her sword swung in the air with the spell of annihilation being poured inside the sharp razor ready to slash Chandra in pieces. She could see nothing around her- except blood and blood and blood... the blood of her father and her brothers, whom Chandra has slashed inhumanely in front of her eyes. The memory of his father's savage death again flashed in front of her eyes. The shout of her brothers in the time of their death started ringing in her ears. This man has ruined her world, this man has taken away every happiness from her life, this man has murdered her father and brothers. He has to pay for it. Nandini cannot spare his life when she is alive! He has to pay for the blood of Nand dynasty. Nandini will take revenge for her father! Like an insane warrior Nandini moved her bloodthirsty sword driven by a blind desperate rage from inside. Her eyes were invoking fire, and she was looking like a lively image of destruction. Like a bolt of thunderstorm she was rotating the sword, the merciless powerful strikes were clanging with the sword of the opponent in each step, sparking fire.

But her opponent is a strange person. With every stroke of sword Nandini could understand that Chandra is not at all taking her ferocious attack very seriously, rather he is only defending her sword in a very casual attitude. The light smile was still fixed in his lips, as if he is playing with her anger. He did not counter attack for once, nor did his smile hide for a little moment. But even in his casual defending moves he was so efficient that Nandini could not even overpower him for a little moment despite using all her force against him! The more her rage was getting uncontrollable, the more he was provoking her with his cold smile of appreciation in his lips. Her anger was overpowering her skills and telling upon her energy level unnecessarily and she could feel that, and also she could feel that Chandra is going to win this duel without even striking back for once!

Suddenly, just when Nandini was trying to gather all her concentration together in her mind to steady herself, and attacked with all her strength, Chandra did a strange thing which only a crazy person can do. In front of her bloodthirsty sword he just threw his weapon off. "I am accepting my defeat Rajnandini!" He uttered. "I think I have tested your warrior skill enough!"

Nandini screamed once to release the wild energy of a warrior, and the razor of her sword ruthlessly fell on Chandra, simultaneously when he left the sword! The scared guards popped their eyes, Helena screamed out closing her eyes in fear...

"Very good Nandputri! At least you are able to take out some of the drops of my blood!" Chandra's voice was heard. Helena, with a big sigh of relief opened her eyes. Chandra was on the ground while his lips are beaming in smile, Nandini was in front of him, smiling with a usual princely pride. She saw Nandini to stretch her hand to Chandra to help him. "I am sorry that I could not control my sword at the very last moment and it wounded you. I was all ready to attack and just then you threw your sword. I got no chance to control... Else," She pronounced every word very prominently. "Nandini knows how to maintain a warrior's norm. She does not attack on an unarmed warrior!"

"I am happy to see that Nandaputri!" Chandra looked at her eyes intensely. His deep glare again stormed inside her heart. "You are a good warrior, but uncontrollable... like an arrow... You need to have control on you when you are handling a sword."

"I prefer to be an arrow, Maharaj!" Nandini smiled with a spark. "Arrows does not have any space of distraction. It only knows one thing, how to hit the target!"

"Impressive!" Chandra told. His arm was bleeding. "You are bleeding Maharaj! You should take care of that wound now." Nandini told.

"I will remember this wound for a long time." Chandra smiled broad. Nandini's eyes shivered for an unknown reason.

"I... I will take care of that..." Helena, with an awkward feeling inside, readily came to Chandra and pressed the wound with her palm tightly to stop the bleeding. "G..guards... take away Nandini from here."

"I will go myself Your Highness." Nandini smiled gently. "Have a good day... Excuse me, Majesty..."

"Do you have any question, Nandini?" Chandra asked with a mild smile.

Nandini turned back. "Yes I have; but maybe I know the answer... You were testing me. You were trying to see whether I attack on an unarmed warrior or not. You were examining to what extent I can control my rage and my sword."

Chandra smiled. "You are intelligent, Nandaputri. You may go now!"

Nandini bowed down for once then left with the guards. Chandra gazed at her path. Helena gazed at him. A strong sting of reasonless doubt was pinching her heart.

"What type of childishness is this Chandra? She could have killed her!" She said with a worried tone when Chandra looked at her.

"No she could not. I had observed her moves very properly. I would have defended myself." Chandra smiled. "And however, the idea of fighting with her had come from your head, not mine."

"Yes but this way, accepting own defeat without being defended and then risking your own life... what was that?"

"I have grown up playing with risk. I love it. And Helena..." He touched her shoulder. "It is not necessary to show the opponent how much strong you are in the game of revenge; sometimes measuring the opponent is much necessary."

"I can't understand you Sandracottus!" Helena smiled hopelessly.

"I am not so complex to understand Helena. I am a warrior, and so I know how to tackle which kind of warrior in which way. Anyway... emm" He kept a distance from Helena suddenly noticing the on growing proximity between them. "You need not to worry. This is a very mild scratch. I will take care of it well."

"Why did you suddenly challenge Nandini that way, Chandra?" Helena asked suddenly, quite unmindfully when Chandra was about to leave. "It cannot be only as I did the same?"

Chandra turned back to her. His eyes were unreadable. "You know what Helena, when something- be it anything- any fear, any odd feelings or any memory, disturbs me and distracts me from my work, I prefer to face that directly rather than trying to ignore and forget that. This works much better to concentrate!"

"But how is this relevant to this?" Helena was more confused.

"It is." Chandra smiled. "Well, good day Helena!"

He left the place. Helena kept on gazing. Suddenly she could feel her heart filling with a dissatisfaction and despair. Whatever be the reason of Chandra's sudden reckless act, she would feel the hidden flow of passion flowing in each and every stroke of their fight. She could feel the strange spark between them when they were talking. Nandini and Chandra are entirely different to each other, but both of them share a strange chemistry. They do have a deep bond of attraction and repulsion together, and when they collides, they inflame fire! The current of electrifying passion between both... Helena could not feel good after realizing this!

She does not have any feelings for Chandra. Once upon a time Chandra had become her support when she was broken after Malay's rejection; but those days were too short-lived to give birth to any different feelings. Their marriage was entirely political where both of them had own benefits, and Chandra is a very good partner. Because of living together for a good long time and also for having same age they have become friends. But they do not think anything else about each other ever. Neither Chandra has any problem to hear her blabbering on Malayketu nor does Helena feel irritated ever to see Chandra cutting jokes and being proximate with his second wife Durdhara.

But God knows what happened today! Why something is stinging inside her heart after feeling the passion between Chandra and Nandini despite knowing they have an ultimate enmity?

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"AAAHH!!"

"Stop shouting like a kid, idiot!" Durdhara pulled Chandra's ear as she was applying an inflaming ointment on Chandra's wound.

"Ok ok I will not shout. Spare my ear!"

"All is your fault! Who told you to go and fight with Nandini?" Durdhara groaned. "You know that she is eager to take your life, and here you are..."

"Do you expect me to fear from that silly girl?" Chandra laughed. "I was just measuring her, madam!"

"What???"

"Yes. I wanted to know how much dangerous and stupid a girl can become in the hunger of revenge!" Chandra smiled. "That night she was like a venomous masked snake, and today morning she was a tigress. Nice... it was good to see some honesty in the warrior princess of Magadh, she showed some valour worth of being a royal, else I would be thinking for lifelong that Nandputri only knows to backstab. She is even more cowardice than her foul father!"

"After becoming king you have started talking in riddle. This bad habit was not in you before!" Durdhara sighed hopelessly. "You and your ideas on Nandini! You knew well that she was planning to kill you last night; but still you went to her and played with her till the nick of time, just as according to you, you wanted to have fun of playing with fire? I mean what is this? Anything could have happened to you! She could have killed you by chance!"

"No way!" Chandra laughed. "This Chandragupta is not allowed to die until and unless he fulfils his Guru's dream and strengthens the base of a united Bharat. That silly stupid girl will kill me? Are you mad?"

"Over-confidence is also not good for health, Majesty!" Durdhara frowned seriously. "It only takes a moment for an accident to take place. And also, I find Nandini somehow... somehow very clever and smart!"

"And I am cleverer and smarter to handle her. So you need not to worry. All she can do maximum is to give a small scratch in my arm, that's it!" Chandra commented while wearing his angvastra again. "Okay Durdhara, see you tonight. Have a great day and don't fear much from Nandini."

"I do not fear from her. I just..." Durdhara was unmindful. "... just pity her! I just feel sorry for her!"

"You feel bad for Nand's daughter?" Chandra popped his eyes in exclamation. "Come on Durdhara, she attempted on your husband's life. At least do not forget that!"

"I know; and that's why I pity her- for her blindness! I feel bad for her as I understand how helpless she is!" Durdhara told.

"My stupid Durdhara also has learnt the art of talking in riddle ha?" Chandra affectionately pulled her cheeks. "Well, my dear queen, don't say that she is helpless! She has been given lot scopes which she does not deserve. So your pity and sorrow for her is actually not justified."

"Yes I agree with all points of you Chandra." Durdhara told in a low yet firm tone. "But you can't see from Nandini's side. I can see. So I can't help but feeling bad for her!"

"Really?"

"She had been compelled to marry the same person who has wiped out all the traces of her family from the world in front of her eyes! Is it really easy to accept the killer of her father as the life-partner? She is only a 16 years old, isn't it normal for her?"

"None forced her to accept this relationship. Nandputri was the one who stepped ahead. And her decision was not out of helplessness, but out of revenge! She did not take the vows of marriage with devotion from her heart, rather she took an oath to end my life right after the marriage. She first accepted the treaty, surrendered, and then tried to backstab me breaking the deal! This act is simply a bad example of deception! You are telling her helpless, feeling sympathy for that girl?"

"Yes. You are seeing the whole story from your eyes, your mother's eyes, your sister's eyes and from the eyes of the people of Magadh; you are judging her with your knowledge of laws and virtues. But you can't see the point of view of a pampered princess. If you could, maybe you could feel that she is nothing but helpless, aimlessly groping in dark; and she can be pitied only!" Durdhara told.

"Hmmm... All I can see is you are extremely biased to her, only because she is a woman!" After listening Durdhara, Chandra gave his expert opinion. "My dear Durdhara, admit that you are not neutral."

"If so, then you too cannot deny it too Samrat Chandragupta Maurya, that you too are not neutral in your judgement!" Durdhara gave him a glare. "No matter how much cool and forgiving you look in front of her, truth is you hate her personally, and that personal hatred makes you judgemental about her. You cannot see her as an individual identity beyond being daughter of Nand, that's why every time you taunt her addressing Nandputri; whenever you see her the image of Nand comes in front of your eyes. She is a living reflection of your nemesis Mahapadmanand to you, and that's why you will never be able to see from her point of view, you will never be able to judge her neutrally."

"Are you blaming me for doing so Durdhara?" This time Chandra's voice was rough and serious. "Don't. I know very well what I should do, and what I should not. Yes I hate her for being Nand's daughter, and I don't think there is anything uncanny and wrong about it. I have enough reason to hate the Nand dynasty, and she inherits the blood of Nand. Tell me one reason for that I should accept her as an individual identity and not Nand's daughter? Tell me one reason for that I should try to understand her?"

"First of all I did not blame you. There is nothing wrong in your thought and attitude on her; rather your tolerance and kindness to your enemy's daughter is something that none can even imagine to, and there lies your greatness." Durdhara touched her angry friend's shoulder to pacify him. "Maybe there is no reason for you to understand her, but I can't help myself. You see the reflection of Nand in the fire of her eyes, but I can only see the blind thirst of aimless revenge born from the extreme of helplessness and frustration only. She was an apple of eye of her father, and you have killed him in front of her eyes. You have uprooted her from her root forcefully! This vehemence is the right of a daughter. So her reaction is natural... Maybe, I would have done the same... My father was never a loving father, I don't have any kind of special bondage with him... still I would have done the same! And here the whole Magadh knows how much dear Rajnandini was to her father."

"Really? You would have done the same?" This time Chandra laughed out. "Her highness, can you even think so cleverly as Nandini? Not only managing a spiked breast band and hairpin dagger under the eyes of the guards, disguising like a shy yet seductive bride, alluring the prey and planning to pierce his body in the first chance of their intimacy in icy cool mind, but also to burn the whole palace in the dark of night, can Durdhara do these all?"

"No Durdhara can't." Durdhara was not laughing at all. "As Durdhara is not fearless. Durdhara fears the consequence, Durdhara fears the authority, Durdhara fears the destiny! But, in mind, even the coward and brainless Durdhara would kill the killer of her father for 1000th times! It's not easy to actualize such a vicious dream of revenge in almost a particular way! Everyone cannot do this! I cannot, maybe most of the women cannot... because they fear the fate and consequence... but Nandini can, because she is fearless! And one should respect this quality! You can hate her, but you cannot ignore her abilities... She does what she wants, she is not common."

Chandra was gazing at Durdhara with a smitten smile in his lips. In mind he was recalling the fierce eyes of Nandini again. Durdhara is right. She is not common. She is rather a source of limitless energy. She has a fire inside, mighty but misguided. Fire, the most deadly element of the world, who has the power of destroy everything, is the most useful element for mankind if it can used in proper way... Tame down the fire, and it will be your greatest source of energy!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The dark cave is completely abandoned from the ray of light coming from outside. Only a torch is burning at one side of the wall of the cave, offering a little visual effect in the darkness. In that semi darkness one can only guess that a dark silhouette of a tall, muscular strong-built man sitting on a hard rock-bed, with his furious glare violently roaming in the dark cave, with a vow of destroying everything before him! He is Mahapadmanand, the former Magadhnaresh, the lost majesty!

"Your Majesty..." A calm and composed voice floated in the air with a man with a torch in his hand appeared. The man is standing on the border of middle-age and old-age, bald headed with a healthy top-knot as a sign of his status and face perfectly blended with the same proportion of wisdom and cunningness, and has a golden sceptre in hand showing his rank in the imperial court. The former king almost rushed to him. "Amatya! Say me, is that shepherd guy killed? When am I going back to my palace?"

"My Lord..." Amatya Mudrarakkhas hesitated to speak... "He is the monarch of the kingdom now; it is not possible to kill him so easily... We need a strong planning and a lot of manpower to dethrone him but for now we..."

"Worthless!! Everyone is worthless!" The king shouted like a madman. "That shepherd boy and that bald old Brahmin snatched my throne from me, killed my 7 sons and you all kept on standing! Is this the reason I was feeding you all with fat amount of salary?? What are you doing Mudrarakkhass? I was told that I have got the most efficient man as my Mahamatya! So this is your efficiency? Worthless idiot!!"

"Control your rage Maharaj! I am doing my duty as a prime minister and I will not allow anyone to question my efficiency of fulfilling my duty, be it his majesty himself!" Mudrarakkhas raised his voice with a dignified authority. "We are completely out of resource. We have no money, no manpower, no troops. Even the subjects of Magadh are completely devoted to their new king, and they will tear us up if they get any opportunity! The soldiers and moles of Chanakya are searching us like hunting dogs! What do you expect me to do now instead of ensuring your safety?"

"Subject of Magadh! Huh!! Those nincompoop citizens! They are not even worth of the dust of Mahapadmanad's shoes, now they are thinking themselves superior under the shade of that idiot shepherd? I will smash them all under my boot once I get back my power!!" Padmanand grunted out of frustrated fury! "I am giving you time limit of 10 days Mudrarakkhas, get me the head of Chandragupta and that oldie!"

"Keep calm your majesty, this is not a time for bursting in fury, but to think coolly." Mahamatya Rakkhas stated. "The situation of Pataliputra has turned worse Maharaj. All the supporters of us have been arrested by Chandragupta's army. And the worst thing is all the supporters and relatives of his majesty from other states are not going to team against Chandragupta anymore. By fixing the Magadhrajnandini's marriage with the new king Chanakya has played a great political move. By law now Chandragupta is your son-in-law and relative, so other relative states will not raise their weapon against him! It has become almost impossible for us to build a military force again to recapture Magadh!!"

"Yahhh!!!" In fury Mahapadmanand threw out the firebrand from the stand. "What you are doing Mudrarakkhas?? How dare you to say that it is almost impossible?? That bustard Chandragupta, the son of that witch Mura has captured my daughter... Mudrarakkhaas what are you doing?? Go and tell all the supportive states that Chandragupta has forcefully captivated my Nandini, tell them to wedge a war and save my daughter from that demon!!"

"I am doing what I am supposed to do this time Rajan! Ensuring your safety and thinking about our next move!" Mudrarakkhas stated calmly! "And Maharaj, your daughter has not been captured or forcefully married. She and the others of the family accepted the relation with full consent, and they are given back their status. This is similar as surrendering in front of the new royalty officially, and after this the other states cannot go against this marriage and wedge a war!"

"My Nandini can never accept this marriage!! She can never surrender!!" Mahapadmanand started screaming in frustration.

"Maybe she and your family had no other option left other than to choose this marriage... They don't know that you and prince Dhan are still alive." Mudrarakkhas shook his head. "However, we have to wait Maharaj!"

"Wait for what??? Mahapadmanand cannot wait! Go and do anything! Anything to kill that shepherd boy! I don't bother if the way is not politically correct, or a proper war. I just want to hear the news of Chandragupta's death!" Mahapadmanand grinned. "Can you understand Amatya?"

"Do you mean a secret assassination, Maharaj?" Amatya Rakkhas frowned.

"Send someone who will just cut his throat down, Amatya!" A cruel smirk appeared on Nand's face.

"But Maharaj, try to understand. Killing Chandragupta is not a solution. We have no infrastructure to get back the throne now. So after his death we can't just go and capture the throne again. Moreover subjects love Chandragupta. They will burst like volcano if anything happens to him. There will be a huge anarchy in the kingless Magadh and the base of the state will break. The other enemies will capture the throne and..."

"Stop lecturing and carry out my order Amatya!" Mahapadmanand seemed irritated with all logical explanations. Mudrarakkhas shook his head with high disappointment and again tried to venture his views.

"It will not be so easy Maharaj! The security system is 100 times better that ours this time. It is impossible to..."

"Then make it possible Amatya! I don't want any excuse! Send anyone... any girl..."

"Chandragupta is leads a very simple and reluctant life. He is completely aloof to all the luxuries related to alcohol and women..." Amatya shook his head. "Moreover, I can't remember whether we have any woman assassin in hand now who will be ready to take such a risk..."

"Of course we have one, Amatya..." another voice came from back. Both of them turned back and saw the young prince.

"Kumar Dhananand?" Mahapadmanand frowned. "You're here now? What about the troop that you were going to gather for an attack?"

"That bald Brahmin is too much cunning than you are Amatya!" Dhananand bent his lips in utter dissatisfaction. "His spies already located me, and the whole plan is in waste! I fled from there very luckily."

"But Kumar, you should not have come here. If they track us through you then..."

"O shut up Amatya rakkhas! Do your own work and oblige us! I know very well what should I do and when." The arrogant prince blurted out in a very indecent way, only left Amatya Rakkhas to exhale an angry sigh. "However... What I was telling? Yeah..." Sitting on a rock, prince Dhan continued. "I know someone who will happily help us in this situation without raising any scope of doubt in those idiots' mind! I met her before coming here, and she was eager to help me by hook or crook!"

"Who is she, my son?" Mahapadmanand asked in a saturated voice.

"Nanyanika!"

"Nayanika?" Padmanand exclaimed.

"Devi Nayanika? The courtesan of Pataliputra? But kumar..." Mudrarakkhas looked thoughtful. "Devi Nayanika is a very accomplished lady according to my knowledge, but she is not professional. Moreover she is a known personality in Pataliputra, if she gets revealed?"

"Yes Nayanika. My Nayanika..." A saturated smile beamed in Dhan's lips. "You need not to worry about her efficiency Amatya, she is the finest lady I have ever met and brainier than you I think nowadays!" Dhan sneered in an insulting way that Amatya had to digest without protest! "And moreover she is a famous personality, but was only approachable to the royal peoples of Nand family. None present in palace does know how she looks, so she will not be caught. She can enter into the palace in disguise of Nandini's maid, and can execute our plans."

"It's a great plan my son! If Nayanika can get me my revenge from Chandragupta then I will cover her up with gold!" Padmanand grinned in extreme pleasure.

"But how will Devi Nayanika kill Chandragupta in this perfect security system, especially where Chandragupta is completely apathetic towards women?" Amatya told again. "Sorry Maharaj, I think it will be a great mistake to assume that Chandragupta will fall in Nayanika's spell. Moreover this trial may turn dangerous for us!"

"In that case we have another pawn right in the palace Amatya. She will easily end Chandragupta's story happily!" After a moment's thought, Dhan told.

"A pawn right in palace?"

"My dear sister Nandini, Amatya..." Dhan smiled. "What Nayanika can't do, Nandini can do easily. She has a legal access in Chandragupta's private life now. She only needs guidance and resource, which we will provide her via Nayanika!"

"What are you saying Kumar? Kumari Nandini? No no Kumar..." Mudrarakkhas protested readily. "I strongly object to indulge the princess in all these... Maharaj..." He looked at Nand to get wholehearted support from that side, but strangely got the opposite reaction. Mahapadmanand's eyes were beaming in a strange aspiration.

"You're right Dhan! How can I forget! My greatest strength is right there in my palace." He grinned. "Nandini! My daughter Nandini! She will get her father his revenge! She will get her father his everything back! She will get victory to her father! My daughter... she always wanted to be my right hand... her dream will be fulfilled!" The whole cave was shivering with Nand's trembling voice full of a strange excitement. "I believe on my daughter Mudrarakkhas! She is not the one who sits back and weeps cursing her fate. She knows to stand up, she knows to take revenge! My daughter is a flame of fire, and Chandragupta will burn in that!"

"Your daughter is a pure flame of fire Maharaj! Why you are going to impure that by using her like a cheap medium to destroy your enemy?" Amatya raised his voice.

"How dare you Amatya!!" Padmanand shouted in extreme rage. "I am using my daughter?? You want to say I am using my Nandini for my benefit???"

"Of course you are your majesty! You are planning to pull her down to a treacherous assassin from the status of an honourable princess! You are going to demean her in front of her husband!"

"I don't accept Chandragupta as Nandini's husband! Neither do I believe that Nandini is spending a happy married life with that shepherd! What do you mean by demeaning her status, Amatya? She is my daughter, the piece of my heart! From childhood I have built her in my own hands! She is not trained to be a puppet of fate, it is not necessary that she has to pull the burden of this forceful marriage for whole life! She is Nand's daughter, I have taught her how to smash each and every wall that comes in her path! It's the duty of the princess of Magadh, the daughter of mine. And fulfilling own duty never demeans anyone."

"But Maharaj... that's against a princess's principle, that's against the virtue of a royal-born..." Mudrarakkhas tried for last time. "For God's sake Maharaj, don't encourage her to go in wrong path in the blind rage. It will become dreadful for her life! They may use your weapon on you, don't give them that opportunity; we are going to commit a great mistake, Maharaj!"

"I know there is certain risk; but I trust on her ability. And you need not to lecture me about what I should and what I shouldn't Amatya!" Mahapadmanand grunted and looked at Dhananand. "You depart for Pataliputra along with Nayanika as soon as possible Dhan. From now on I give you all the responsibilities of the mission to wipe out Chandragupta's trace from this world!"

Stuti darling, I am telling you one thing very seriously. Become the CV of CN! I can only imagine the kind of brilliant stuff we would be watching on the show if only we had such good fortune. You do perfect justice to the hate story and revenge angle of CN. I never exactly got to see that on the show. You are doing it for all of us. First the friendly duel between Helena and Chandra, their conversation, and that followed by the rivalry wala duel between Helena and Nandini, followed by the hatred with undercurrent of attraction wala duel between Chandra and Nandini, followed by a beautiful conversation with a sensible Durdhara. I couldn't have asked for anything better. This is perfection itself!
