people, why can't she be a bratty selfish kid... i mean she has been living a sheltered life with her father pampering her to a great extent... she is caught up in her own world for the time being... have patience and let the character grow... she is still a child.. she hasn't been given training in plotting like a pro... she would learn to plot like one as the character grows...this selfish bratty persona is a character flaw... which puts her into a non mary sue type of character...which is necessary for a story.

is it a criteria that a lead has to be a strong, one track minded focus on revenge or has to be a complete saint... can't other type of characters be present... and even when they are completely in revenge mode or saint mode... the audience end up complaining about it... sheesh... can you people ever be satisfied...

All I've to say, that even if leads aren't mature, they certainly cannot be annoying.
For instance, yesterday. She pulled Chandra in sleep. Is she a 5 yr old? Common, she's a Rajkumaari with great responsibility.
Of she was to be so naive, the plot should've been different :/

Nandini was supposed to be a grey character...Someone who started off positively but turned grey after her father's death. Instead of showing her as someone who is smart and calculative...They are turning her into a "abla naari" type character.

^This. I came here to write the exact same thing.

With Nandini's characterization, the cvs are massively confused. They don't know how to portray the character. If she were a secondary character they would have just put her in either of the 2 categories - abla naari or vamp. The problem with her is that she has a revenge story so she can't be completely positive. And we all know there have hardly been any good grey shaded female characters in contemporary hindi telly shows, not one that I can think of.

So we are stuck between these extremely confusing arcs, sometimes she is crying/begging/pleading and other times she is all "evil" planning and plotting. There seems to be a disjoint in her characterization.

It's a shame coz I like the actress as well as I was rooting for CN as a couple.

Honestly speaking I find Nandini's character quite realistic because she is supposed to be a pampered, spoiled and a very naive/innocent princess, who has been sheltered all her life by her family. Her blind faith and love for her father has always made her questions others, including her own mother. So when she witnessed her father being murdered in front of her eyes, its natural for her to feel grief one moment and wanting to seek revenge the next. But there is also the womenfolk of her family she needs to take care of, because whatever she does will affect them as well, so currently her personality is going through a transition from a pampered princess to a mature and a strong woman, which is going to take time. It doesn't happen overnight.

As of now, I don't see the Beginning of such a transition. It's literally a month already, would there have been some changes, I'd be satisfied. But I can still see her in a dreamland, not understanding the graveness of where she stands. Im afraid I've already begun to lose interest in the show. :/
How much it'll take?
