Nandini : Impulsive & Unstable

Coming straight to the topic, the character of Nandini needs to be revamped or either made strong enough to suit Chandra.
I get that she's broken and devastated but she's crying a bit too much. The hallucinations aren't helping either. I don't see her firm resolve anywhere or any firmness in character. She hasn't swore till now to absolute revenge. Infact, her plots are just a secondary thing to her crying!🥱

Besides, I don't understand WHY is she taking revenge. Nope, I'm talking of a diplomatic strategy.
There are two kinds of people in politics :
- One, who'll do anything just for the sake of revenge. Immediate revenge, to be specific. Even if that means sacrificing one's self. Mindless killing, in short.
- Two, who're alert, diplomatic and analysing. They'll be your best partner, your supporter until they find that one chance which will ruin you and reverse the power strata.

Nandini, is being extremely impulsive here!
Has she even thought about this? If Chandra is dead, any cruel neighbouring king can take over. She'll either have to do Jauhar or remarry that demon against her own will. The entire 'princess' thing will be gone and She'll be in a worse condition than this.
Phew, and Avantika talks of her saving the others?😳

I'd expected Badi maa to point that out but Alas!

Also I'd like to draw the comparison between Nandini & Helena.

Both are princesses albeit with a sharply contrasting outlook. Helena is so brainy, shrewd and the perfect Patraani! She doesn't cry, takes decisions from the mind, knows how to control enemies and also can handle Chandra extremely well.
On the other hand Nandini is still like a small innocent kid : learning the ways of politics in a bit harsh way. She's crying mostly and maybe plotting here and there.
The precise example why British could rule over Indians coz we're so damn naive.😵

The long and the short is, we need a character as strong as Chandra to try the revenge stuff. And I don't see our lead reaching that mark.

Many of us have been making the very same points in different words for the character Nandini. People who love this character presume that it is our 'supposed hate' speaking. But the truth remains that I see a promise and potential in the character which at the present seems to be just mislaid with the script doing a severe disservice. You can't have your cake and eat it too. Similarly you cannot be willing to wound and afraid to strike at the same while. The character can either be grey and vengeful or great and saintly, hit my left cheek and I will show you my right sort. The present version of Nandini just comes off as a bratty, blind, unthinking and at times stupid sort of person. Her revenge is also not full blown. Her schemes to kill Chandragupt look so utterly childish that I can only marvel how she thinks they are actually going to work.

^An extremely spoilt and pampered princess who never knew what dirty games are. I hope she learns soon. A one sided battle is not so interesting.
Even if they lessen the crankiness, it'd be fine. And for God's sake, if they increase Chandra's screen space rather than showing those Pita Maharaj FBs, it'll be much better!😭 I find that entire "Mere Pita Mahan" thing so irritating!🤢

In addition to being naive and foolish she is coming across as extremely selfish. For her it is all about her happiness, her pain, her pita maharaj etc etc.
In spite of her mother explaining her that her marriage will get protection for the 300 odd women in the palace she continues her silly scheming without realising that if she gets caught, all these women including her mother and bhabhis shall be converted to daasis or worse sold off into prostitution.

Even if she kills chandra, some other king will take his place (she had no idea that her brother and father were alive) and the aforesaid fate will again befall them.

Maturity is not behaving like a kid and keeping on crying over what has been lost. Maturity is trying to protect what is left and if required making sacrifices for the safety of your family.

The worst thing is even after Avantika spells this to nandini in black and white she refuses to heed showing how utterly self centered she is.

The other aspect in Nandini's character that tends to flabbergast a number of viewers is her selective grasp and selective amnesia of even the truth she sees. Take the kanyadan scene. Dhananand, her brother infiltrates into the palace with devious intentions. He is caught by Chanakya and forced to do the Kanyadan. Immediately after he does that, he raises some sharp object and is going to kill her own 'Suhaag' before he is caught and dragged back by the soldiers. Chandragupt is roused to a raging fury and about to retaliate by paying Dhananand in the same coin, and what does this stree do? She passes a mental judgement against Chandra thinking what sort of a despicable man he is who was going to kill his own wife's brother on his marriage day. The poor chap was not contemplating anything of that sort. It is her brother's murder attempt that provokes him to retaliate. She does not think for once what sort of a brother she has who was killing her own ' suhaag' on her marriage day. She perhaps thinks it justified and the perfectly normal way to behave.

The problem with Indian Television is that they don't know how to do a grey female character and we are struck with either *completely positive" sati savitri types or *completely negative...beyond redemption* vamps types.

Nandini was supposed to be a grey character...Someone who started off positively but turned grey after her father's death. Instead of showing her as someone who is smart and calculative...They are turning her into a "abla naari" type character.
