Hi All-

Happy Deepavali/ Diwali to all! Wishing you all bright days of happiness, peace, and prosperity.

So, I am back with my next thread for week of October 24th. It is week three of the serial and it is already going full steam ahead.

This week had its share of funny moments ... Chandra (or was it Rajat) making fun of his own skirt or Helena tossing over Mohan 2 the Tiger in a way that made you think why Jalal struggled so much ... it is that easy.

That being said- some things like the Greeks dropping their accents sometimes in Hindi can be forgiven - after all the audience needs to understand them. Overall, the drama is still a bit high pitched, but there are a few key points they clearly wanted to convey and it was about the dynamics of the characters that was emerging.

1. Guru Shishya: This week I liked Chandra and Chanakya's increased focus on their mission ... there was less talk and more action. Chandra was in disguise and used tact to make sure no one recognized him ... like using the beehive as an escape to beeline from being discovered by the Magadh family. While his lapses of being outspoken seemed off, they did help win the attention and trust of Helena, which may have been more difficult if he had been more discreet. He quickly got promoted from cooking department to army and in the precap he is already working on dividing the army's loyalties.

Chanakya, on his part, is working to bring together support for Chandra and shows he is maybe even better a master of disguise than his shishya. I liked the scene where they both tricked the Greek spies behind Chandra and got them out of their way.

2. Saheli bani Sauten (I am surprised there is no movie by this title, there should be) : Helena is a quirky character (as Chitti described) obsessed about love (shown with the crazy encounter with both the rabbit and tiger) but what was interesting was her relationship with Nandini. They started off as enemies of the sword turned friends turned "sauten" rivals in a period of three days. Ironically, they will be sauten ... but Maleyketu would not be the common man in their life. Instead, it would be Chandra. Helena who claims she never would want to be "second" to anyone , would be one of Chandra's many wives (with Durdhara making an entry, I do not know which wife is which number anymore). She already hates Nandini for taking away Malayketu from her. Hence, the dynamics between Helena and Nandini will get increasingly more complex once they are both married to Chandra. Ekta's vamp making formula is in full form it seems.

When Helena says she wants to be Queen of Magadh- I assume she wanted to marry into the Magadh family? Maybe I didn't capture that correctly; but eventually she will be Queen of Magadh but married to Chandra.

Overall, I felt people were foreshadowing the right things, but they weren't going to happen the way they expected.

3. Yeh Rishta Kya Hai (because still unclear where this is going): Another interesting angle was Chandra and Helena. Helena has begun to trust Chandra, for first saving her life, then being the voice of consolation when she was rejected by Malayketu. While Chandra got to tell his signature line of how love makes you weak, this seems to be more his plan to win her trust than a distraction from original mission.

What will be interesting is Helena's reaction to who Chandra really is- will she view his "Dushyant" days as a betrayal to her and take revenge on Chandra or will she be obsessed about Chandra (like the rabbit), which will make her more an adversary to Nandini and Durdhura? Or maybe, she will make all their lives miserable and all of us too?

4. Hum Tum (why Hum Tum, well cause they keep meeting and whenever they do, something keeps going wrong just like the movie) : Chandra and Nandini's saga continues ... while they both hate each other, Nandini is thinking back about him with a sword fight with his dummy and their paths keep crossing to Chandra's annoyance. I found it funny how Chandra got to already put the paayal on Nandini's foot (this Jodi is very advanced- sword fight, khoon bhari maang, and even paayal already done).

Of course on the other hand, destiny always makes Chandra save Nandini as he himself reflects. While Nand wants to marry Nandini off to Malayketu to make sure her future is secure and it is Malayketu assuring Nand he will always protect Nandini, it is Chandra who is saving Nandini from the bandits as Malayketu arrives late.

Do I sense a repeat of Chandra saying to Nandini- "I will save you from the world, but who will save you from me"? Of course, he wouldn't say the word "mehfooz", hopefully.

5. Love square: The most interesting is likely how these characters will move forward together- Malayketu, Helena, Nandini, and Chandra.

Malayketu and Chandra want to rule Magadh, for very different purposes.

Nandini senses something amiss with Malayketu but goes with her Dad's decision. If only she knew he was Helena's "yuvraaj", she may have happily given him away.

Malayketu discards Helena, questioning her status, where she will end up being one of Chandra's queen's.

Helena wants to be Queen of Maghada and take revenge while Nandini still thinks they are best of friends.

I continue to like Nandini's chirpy, light-heartedness- she seems to offset the drama of the other three corners of the square. It suits the spoilt daughter, raised like a son- she is supposed to be.

And so these characters are intertwined in more than one way ...

You know Chitti and I discussed a potential twist- could it be that Malayketu is behind Nand's death or some other atrocity that Nandini was blaming Chandra for all of it? Wouldn't that be an Ekta-wala twist?

Regardless, this is going to be quite the roller coaster to untangle ...

Hope you like ... err enjoyed the take. Look forward to your thoughts!

A Happy Deepavali, to you!

This was precise, brisk and yet managed to cover all the important tidbits of the week! Most of it, is so completely explained in a laconic fashion, nothing more is really left to add.

Helena for a great part is a probable antagonist, so the CV needs to ensure she has enough hatred piled up to avenge every single opponent around her and Malayketu is an unavoidable torture, one has to sit through his scenes with no other option. As for the advanced relationship between Chandra-Nandini, well once an Emperor, Chandra is supposed to be as saintly, detached and focused on the target as he is now - so then showing him fastening anklets wouldn't be logical - then again, you never know what Ekta is upto 😉

Your devised probability is in all sense a possible one, for the show makers have proven, time and again, that they lack the basic ingenuity to concoct anything apart from dramatised tracks - so you can definitely expect to see someone other than Chandra, beheading Nand, and when Nandini learns of this she will be all apologetic , and Bingo! Hate turns into love! 😆

See you soon😊

What a rush of events this week was Magal. I don't know how you managed to keep it all straight and find the bright bits but you have !

The Greeks speaking Hindi/Urdu was like what the British tried hard to perfect - create an unintelligible dialect that even they couldn't understand. So yes, good if they revert to normal sane speech. 😆

1. Chandra's rapid fire dialogues to Helena must have mesmerised her so much she promoted him from cook to bodyguard but unfortunately for her, Chandra finds serving paan a more effective way to mingle and overhear all the chat. He will of course also always appear to save her (and Nandini).

And totally was blown away by Chanakya's disguises compared to Chandra's. He does a more complete and proper job of it unlike his shishya, who thinks covering one's face with a helmet or a dupatta is sufficient. 😆

2. Yes, 'complex' is one way to put it or pun it. Helena does want to prove her worth. Malay insulted her by highlighting she isn't a 'royal' like Nandini is. So that has only added salt to the wound. In steps Chandra as her 'mentor' - another guru-shishya jodi here. 😆

3. I love your 'Dushyant Days' . It's only what..week 3? things have moved at such breakneck pace that we are already into nostalgia. And if Helena has even 10 % of the rabbit-obession for Chandra... 😲... then ... Nandini will have to forget that poison vest and guard Chandra 24/7.

Durdhura...🤔...no ... I can't think about a fifth angle now...

4. Chandra seems to be treating Nandini like some annoying distraction who keeps turning up where he would rather she did not. She did hate him, but now so much has happened in between I am confused... La- LaLa.. theme at the oddest moments is also confusing me a great deal. 😆

"Mehfooz" ? Helena said that to Nandini 🤣

5. The Love-Square is indeed at a point that is all up in the air. The pace hasn't slackened ,so by the time you do the next take,

- Nandini will force Helena to be the serial saheli cum wedding planner

- Malay will feel the dagger looks from Helena

- Nand pita maharaj will finally notice that Beti has not a single guard and appoint a skirt-disguised Chandra

- Helena will get maha angry that her Dushyant is now guarding her bewafa friend Nandini.

That's about all I can predict at this stage.

Happy Diwali Divya Di.🤗
Loved your takes. 😳 It's not a easy task to summarize all the episodes of one whole week in 5 points so perfectly, and you do this so easily. 😊 I agree with you in all the points, mostly your first take on Guru-Shisya, which is the most intriguing development of the story... Hope they elaborate this part a little more. 😃
I liked the angle of Chandra and Helena too... according to me most of the scenes of this week are used as the clues for future, about the intermediate equations between the characters who will be the main keys of the drama in future...Though I think Helena's obsession with love is highly and unnecessarily overdone, still the chemistry between Helena and Chandra will be interesting to watch. I think when Helena said that she will become Magadh's queen one day she did not tell it with much thought, but for viewers it is obviously an interesting catch as they know what's going to happen in future...
I seriously hated the tiger vs Helena part.🤢 (Mohan was much much much handsome than this cartoon😡) Funny thing is that she can kill a tiger without getting a little scratch but cannot save herself from few goons and needs a hero to save her. 🤣 Could not this scene be conducted with a snake! Maybe would look a bit realistic!🥱
For now I don't like Nandini... she has no shade or quality in her character to like other than being a spoilt little dear daughter of her father. Though this is deliberate, and her change in coming days will be an interesting move and I am waiting for that!⭐️ But I sincerely wish if Nandini could come across any of Nand's cruel side before his death... I would like to see her conflict between blind trust on father and own humanity...
Malayketu-Helena-Nandini-Chandra love-square is very entertaining. 😆 (Only if Malayketu could look a bit younger. Here he looks oldie than his father-in-law 🤣) I have no idea how the alliance between Malayketu and Nandini will break. Something big is going to occur!😕...honestly I really do not want to see Chandra and Nandini to marry so soon and Chandra to become emperor so easily.🥱😆
Your presumption about Malay killing Nand is very possible.😆 (Do you remember the climax of Kaler Mandira, Adwi?😉) But this way Mura's revenge will not get fulfilled.😔

However, I am excited for tomorrow, to see how Chandra invites storm in Greek Army camp by his Acharya's divide and conquer policy. 😉 Waiting for your take 5 for the next week. 😃 Till then take care. 😳

Nice post

In shyamala Aunty's thread I have read due to Persian influence these greeks r speaking Urdu

Chandra and chanakya is the only pair who share a perfect chemistry in this show, chanakya's planning and plotting were so impressive when

As u mentioned Helena is quirky and obsessive unlike nandhini may be because nandhini is not neglected by the dear ones she loves but contrarily she was most worshipped in her family but wen her turn comes of feeling neglected we will come to know wat she is up to
Wat if she turns out to be the one who kills the reason for the distraction of kargosh( do u know wat I mean)
I am sure malaiketu is the next kargosh standing next in the line near the kadaai to get fried asap I hope Chandra won't be the next after Malay
For me there is no complaints abt nandhini and her character portrayal because I think essential to show the differences of a girl who is a spoilt brat and an orphan who will avenge her father's hathyaari, her bubble will burst once she looses her most precious possession , her father then we will get to see a warrior princess , even shwetha is doing her job well even while being chirpy and mischievous and her scenes with ankit was so good
While talking abt sautens only ekta maiyyaa can enlighten us who is first and last but one thing is sure Chandra Will be jumping in the middle of the cat fight with his ninjagiri

Yes of course, but if they really show something like that, I will have no other option than to assume that the CVs came across the novel at the last moment 😆

Remember how sensible Yashodhara was? Firstly, her feet were on ground so she learnt what she learnt... and was prepared to repay in due! Do you see an iota of that regalia or sensibility in Nandni?

We can find resemblance between Chitrak and Chandra, but Nandini has to go long way to become Yasodhara... 😉 here Nandni will not even believe for a long time that her god-like daddy had killed Chandra's father and is such a nasty person!😆

Can't any directed pick any of Saradindu's historical novel for a grand movie?😃😆
