Kavya, if you do this triple decker response just once more, tumhari khair nahin! 😉

Next time, I am going to set you a homework assignment of writing at least 5 coherent lines, NOT what you are dishing out every time, on that post!😆

Well, my dear Lavanya, it is good to have you among the living, so to speak! From now on, you cannot afford to miss the episodes, for reasons that are self-evident!😉

I agree with all that you have noted here, so I need add nothing to it.

Except perhaps that Rajat is splendid in both his looks - his face is now lean and all sharp angled planes, and looks Greek - and in the way in which he has internalised the samarpit shishya, from the body language to the words and the voice.

He will be even better tomorrow in enemy territory - take a look at my response above to Disha - as he and Nandini compete for the best Pantene Plus shampoo ad.😉 I think Rajat will win; no wonder all the young ladies here are going Uff!! over those abundant, wavy curls aureoling his face.😉

HOPE YOURE DOING WELL!!

LOVED YOUR POST AS I DID ALL THE OTHER PREVIOUS ONES

TO TELL YOU FRANKLY, I HAVE BEEN QUITE UNABLE TOO WATCH CN SO FAR, THE MAIN REASON BEING THAT FOR ME ALL THAT VFX AND THE OTT PERFORMANCES WERE JUST TOO MUCH TO TAKE.

BUT YES I HAVE BEEN READING YOUR POSTS IN GREAT DETAIL AND ENJOYING THEM. THAT SEEMED TO BE A BETTER OPTION FOR ME
FOR OBVIOUS REASONS 😉 I SAW YESTERDAY'S EPISODE. AND I MUST SAY THAT I SWOONED AND SWOONED AND SWOONED 😆

MY POINTS ARE AS FOLLOWS -

1. AS COMPARED TO MANY OTHER CHILD ACTORS THAT I HAVE SEEN, THIS ONE WAS MUCH BETTER. HE HAD DECENT LINES AND HE SAID THEM QUITE WELL TOO.

2. CHANAKYA TOO WAS REASONABLY GOOD. AND YES I TOO FEEL THAT THE TRAINING SESSIONS SHOULD HAVE BEEN MORE PROLONGED. THEY WERE CUT SHORT QUITE ABRUPTLY, AFTER THAT WALKING ON WATER EXERCISE, WHICH, AGAIN WAS ALL COMPUTER GENERATED ACROBATICS.
ONE THING THAT STRUCK ME AS ODD WAS WHY CHANAKYA STARTED CALLING CHANDRA AND CHANDRAGUPTA SUDDENLY

3. RAJATS ENTRY SCENE WAS QUITE HILARIOUS WITH THE ROPE DOING ITS MERRY ACT ALL BY ITSELF, AND HE DOING ALL THOSE SUPER HUMAN TWIRLS AND JUMPS

4. IN PATALIPUTRA IT WAS FUNNY TO NOTE THAT WHEN NONE OF THE NINE SONS COULD DO THE LAKSHYA BHEDAN, THE LITTLE NANDINI WAS ABLE TO DO IT. ARE THE 9 SONS THAT DUMB???

5. YOU ARE RIGHT THAT CHETAN WAS LOOKING TOO OLD. AND YES NOT ONLY WAS HE GIVEN PERMISSION TO DRESS OUT OF UNIFORM, HIS PLACE OF SITTING FOR A MEAL TOO SEEMED SECLUDED AND SEPARATE. IN A GURUKUL SORT OF A SETTING THAT SEEMED QUITE ODD

6. NANDINI'S DASH INTO THE WELL 😆 WAS THE MOST COMICAL MOMENT. REALLY REMINDED ME OF JODHA AND THE KABOOTAR 😆 AND THE TUN TUN BHABHI (I THINK SHE WAS SHOWN PREGNANT, BUT STILL QUITE TUN TUN 😆)

OVERALL THE THEME OF BUDDHI OVER HRIDAY WAS CONSTANLY BEING BROUGHT UP BY CHANDRA AS WELL AS NANDINI, WHICH, I THOUGHT, WAS QUITE OFF PUTTING, LIKE A DANGLING SWORD

THATS IT FROM ME

You know, Avanthi, that is quite a compliment, that you wait for my posts.Thank you, my dear! And it is even sweeter of you to feel that I am a nice person. I do try, but I do not know how far I get there.

I somehow don't think this Chandragupta will become all soft and gooey like a marshmallow left out in the sun when he falls in love. Let us see.

Watched the episode and all I hope is they don't turn CGM into a love puppet. That would be too much to digest as a viewer. Can't watch a great historian ruler being let down by uninspired Tellywood makers.

Thanks for the PM again I love your writings aunty. :)
You're such a nice person.

Love what you have written.
More than Nandini the show was running at Usain Bolts's speed. I really wished that at least few more epi were given to develop Chanakya-Chandra bond.
Exactly my feelings when I saw Chetan Hansraj and that too in a role of shishya. Knowing Ekta I will not be shocked if Ashwini is roped in too.

Nandini saving the goat was really weird, I didn't get the reason behind the scene at all. And the decision taking from "heart" and the very sweet bonding between father-daughter is very cheesy I feel personally. The actors are good but its just not shown properly or maybe its just me.

Rajat is damn awesome and even though height is not in his favour he suits the royal/warrior looks the best.

The show reminds me of Prithviraj Chauhan and Sanyongita so much

Hope that Ekta shows at least 20-30% true history compared to Jodha Akbar.

OK, my dear Avantika, let us begin with the sharp planes of CGM's face. They come as a sort of shock at the beginning; my mother, who loved Rajat as the young Jalal, could not recognise him for a minute. But that is not what I wanted to say here. I am going to reproduce my comments that were sought on the first photos of him in his royal regalia as CGM, and then on the first promo. The parallel between your take and mine will interest you.

I am not sure if this cold remoteness was what the director or Ekta wanted, but it seems to be what Rajat has brought to his CGM. And I do not think this will change any time soon. The edge of the ninja sword that he has become is too hard and too fine honed for that. I loved the comparison with the sword. Did you know that ninja swords, like the Indonesian kris, had to be baptised in human blood for them to be at their best?
_____________________________

- It is a hard, tough, young face. Much harder and much tougher than Jalal. This one will never become a marshmallow like he did. There is no anger, but there is a grimness about the mouth and about the brows that are drawn together. The eyes are cold and commanding. He knows what he wants, does this young man, and he is determined to get it.

- I am not a kid like you gals to drool over Rajat's biceps and the swords swirling in sync. Though I must say that was very impressive, and Rajat must have trained hard to achieve that impeccable synchronisation, But then he is perfectionist.

If you still want my two pence, here it is . It was the look in his eyes towards the end. It is not in the least like Jalal's OTT rages or even his initial cold sneer, which was very stylised.

Here the eyes are still and initially unreadable. But there is a kind of rock hard confidence and self-assuredness. And when he holds up the chains, there is no hint of anger, but his profile displays unstated satisfaction at the pain inflicted on his bride in the aajeevan karawaas.

In short, he radiates absolute, controlled power, and icy vindictiveness. I think the key elements in his character are going to be this cold, dominating aura of power, and an unforgiving determination to punish his enemies. Very, very interesting.

As for your last line in para 1, do see my response above to Shailaja, which is more elaborate than your one liner. You and I must be telepathic!

But it is your interpretation of the significance of the timing of the leap, just after the river gliding (spot on, that!) scene that fascinated me. It had not occurred to me at all, and I think it is very plausible. My felicitations!👏

Yes, Arpit's Nand is very convincing in the scenes of paternal affection for his daughter, it is Nandini who is too standard issue. She should improve once she gets out of this territory.

Hola Aunty ! Lovely Post !

Firstly I must say I was impressed by the tete-a-tete between Chanakya and Young Chandra. The cliff scene overlooking the palace was a nice touch. This Chanakya is growing on me for sure though he still remains second to the NDTV one. His words are as rousing as they are domineering. Absolute obedience is his demand. Young Chandra at this juncture says nothing about Magadh or his guru/pita/swami's intention of making him king. The boy's thinking is straight. You own me now so give your orders.

The river gliding scene (what else can I call it? 😆) struck me in the head. As the boy crosses the river he becomes a young man. Back on the other side, he has left his his childhood along with its emotional entanglements. On this side, he is a man with no more strings to the past. There is, for him, no going back.

I must confess I watched Rajat's entry on loop for atleast twenty times last night. He looks fantastic.😎

Now that I've got the swooning out of the way, let me give warning to the CVs. Must you ruin an already good entry with shoddy VFX and illogical stunts? The guy doesn't need it! He can get our eyes popping with just normal action scenes. So please stop with the shaolin kung fu! Agreed that our shastra and itihaas has many unknown branches of physical discipline but make it atleast believable! He isn't a ninja that needs to run over water for goodness sake!

Objectively speaking, CG (as I will now call the grown up lad) has been transformed from a gangly kid with spunk to a young man with purpose. His body trained to be as perfect as unbending steel and his mind sharpened to a razor edge. He is the perfect sword and like any other sword, he also has a master who dictates his use.

Also like any sword, he has no warmth in him. Aunty, I am not kidding. Rajat has, just by using his eyes and body language, proven that his CG is a cold, cold man. The eyes, alert, assessing but emotionless...his eyes hooked me in...they feel nothing. Is that the angle the makers want, I wonder or is it just what I felt?

He reinforces my assumption in his dealings with Malayketu (I originally had a good laugh because the first time I heard it as Malai Ketu 🤣). As you said, his defence is matter of factly placed but more so the implication that it is a lack of will on his part that leaves his aberrant partner alive is to be noted. I need not mention his demeanour to his guru. You said it all. So I jump to the scene when Malayketu is trying to put him down. For all the words the arrogant prince spews to degrade him, it is CG who returns a greater form of denigration. He makes no response, he, infact, reacts not at all. A prince of influence is inconsequential to him. That sort of intentional indifference is the worst sort of retort anyone can give I believe.

Okay coming to Rajnandini (now doesn't that sound grand 😉), somehow I think the aim of her run was to give us a good tour of the lavishly decorated set. 😆 Jokes apart, SBP looks beautiful and charming. I hope to see good things from her!

The pitriprem...Aunty, will you be shocked if I said that our villain has created a soft corner for him in my heart? I know he is evil, I know he is a bad person...yet...yet his love for his daughter is so genuine that I cannot look away from it. Arpit (is that the actor's name?) does such a believable job that I cannot turn away from this part of Nand's character. I can only feel pity. She is his one good deed, his redemption and his Achilles's heel rolled in one.

The hriday and mastishk debate, I assure you, will be reiterated until we are sick of it. I am mentally prepared. Are you? 😆

Precap sounds interesting. Entry of another character perhaps?

One last bit...I cannot help it...I am still hung over on the sharp angles of CG's face. If nothing else, he can slay me with just that. 🤣

Hello,
This is probably the 1st time I'm replying to your post. I enjoyed reading your post as much as I enjoyed the episode. Regarding the entry of Chandra I totally agree with you. Though I'm a fan of Rajat, the first thing that came to me with his entry being aired was that it was a little OTT. I mean more than a warrior's entry it appeared the descent of cedric diggory after a journey through portkey. And the way the soldiers or the ruffians, whoever they were, waited for him to perform all those gymnastics even when he was within their reach to enable him to establish his supremacy over them appeared more melodramatic than realistic. They should just have given a sword to Rajat and leave everything else to him. He would have performed wonders.
However, one can never fault Rajat's acting. His acting and expressions are always spot on, may it be that grim and narrow eyed assessment of the odds and coming up with a way to win over them or that slight tilt of his head when he sensed someone sneaking up on him or that lightning speed with which he reacted as he sensed danger. Chandra is the ideal student and Rajat portrayed it accurately. All his scenes are a treat to watch. (however unnecessary melodrama always makes me yawn).
However the way Chandra just stomped his foot on the ground beneath and the sword leapt up like a true ping pong ball was another melodramatic addition. They could have simply shown him touching the sword with his foot and pushing it up in the air so he could grab a hold of it.
Chetan Hansraj - Not only EK is obsessed with him but even in Rajat's PRC this guy featured as Rajat's sworn foe. Well, I guess we just have to swallow the bitter pill, namely Chetan, till he is ultimately packed off to hell or exile by Chandra. I was bemused too regarding the privileges enjoyed by Malayketu. If rules are same for everyone, as Chanakya keeps on harping, then this guy too should be treated as just a student and nothing more.
Chandra and Chanakya - I loved watching them together. Both young and adult versions of Chandra with chanakya is way more entertaining and I'll choose them anytime over Chandra and nandini. That hill top scene is amazing and in a way I think Chanakya was right when he warned Chandra against love. I mean, suppose Chandra had fallen in love with Nandni before packing her brute of a father off to hell, which the latter so deserved, he would have let Padmanand go scot free just to evade being the cause of Nandini's dejection. So its better to first secure your position and then fall in love.
Nandini's entry is likewise melodramatic however Shweta is pretty and her acting is also good.
I love the father daughter bond as it reminds me of my bond with my dad.

That's all, bye.

Thank you, my dear, now what do I call you?

As for spending more time on the Chanakya-Chandra bond, I think it was a commercial decision to speed things up and bring Rajat in sooner. Do see my response a page or so earlier to Shailaja about, inter alia, this point.

I have not watched Rajat in PRC, but many here are saying that his current look reminds them of Veer in Dharmaveer. As my first Rajat show was Jodha Akbar, I cannot comment on this.

Till now, the story seems to have a surprising amount of one version of history - Piplivan, the usurpation of Shishunaag's throne by a lowly upstart, Chandragupta belonging to the Sakya clan to which the Lord Buddha belonged and so on. It is to be seen what happens along the line.

As very little is known of CGM's personal life apart from his bond with Chanakya, there is a lot of leeway for "creative" interpretations. Note there is no disclaimer here, as compared to the 31 second one for Jodha Akbar, that was read out in full daily!

I loved this, Disha, and thanks for letting me see it. Did I not ask in this post, a propos this very scene,

Why the devil, since Chanakya is clearly training his students in sword fighting, did they simply not cut Chandra loose with his sword? Then it would have been like a deadly, literally, combination of balletic grace and lethally swift and unerring swordsmanship.

But why does Veer move so slowly? I would have expected him to take the stairs two or even three at a time. Instead, he moves almost in slomo. What happens in the end?
