Dear Ri,

I quite enjoyed your rant, especially the very last line. That encapsulates my perennial grouse against Jodha Akbar and what was done to Jalal there.😡

Oh yes, I loved your porcine emoticon for the Nava Nandas. They will probably make only fleeting guest appearances, as Balaji will not spend money on them unnecessarily unless it simply cannot be avoided.

I caught up with repeat just now and your pm was here. Here's my rant.

Last epi was far far better! Beast guy (Nand) thumped like King Kong all around as he kept hammering Main Magadh Samrat hoon, gaai bakri ek sath charna aur purush ka ek stri rakhna asambhav hai (welcome to 2016 dumbass! 😆 ) but best part was when he gave her back for cheating on her hubby! Karma, lady. That's what you get for cheating on a good naive guy. I wonder what's the appeal of King Kong, is it the beard? Or those abs? 🤔

Even I was thinking how come he don't force himself on Moora since he believes in parading harlots in and out of his life and a brute guy who has no regard for a woman who destroyed herself to make him king. Maybe it was matter of prestige, he wanted her to break so that she's forced to accept him, not forcing himself on her. I found Moora actress much more tolerable, rassi jal gayi par bal nahi gaya personified. A classic dramatic moment when she curses him to have a girl child and cue, the news. Though he looked more happy when that gold coins fell, the optimist in me feels he loved her the moment he saw her. 5 year old Nandini is cute. Her brothers are splitting image of her daddy dearest🐷

8 year old Chandra looked too soft for me, maybe I am too hungover on Ashoka kid 😆 that cliff climbing and honeybee scene was too dramatic for my taste but eh, whatever. I agree with your assessment
it is not that this Chandra is either a stranger to, or an enemy of love. He rages against love precisely because he can, and does, love so deeply.

He loves his Mother so much that he takes suck risk for her and decides to go to Patliputra, yet the kid declares there is none in this world whom he can love and do anything for, nor will be. Ah, kids😆 you already are infected with Love bite. Rest Ekta mata will bring your great love of life who will make you Samrat *cough JA cough* When his mother said she is not leaving husband cause she loves him, I had a moment 'yeah, sure girl.' More like in those days leaving husband was not an option, I guess?

Precap CHANAKYA!!! not going to do a google search on the actor so let's home he's decent. None can top ndtv imagine chanakya but if he's even 10%, we are good. He will be the most important character after CN so we need good. Cheating Queen now giving bhasans to hubby, I am sure angels must be snickering somewhere up there. I enjoy her growling, gives me sickening pleasure 🤣

Thanks for PM!

PS about that puzzle thingy, I think Ekta wanted to have a grand show and like you said, Akbar and Ashoka was done so she was left with CGM. She casted Rajat cause honestly, who else can pull off historical roles like him? Its his forte now after back to back shows 😆 she had been very smart with choosing the subject, there's practically nothing on CGM's love life on Nandini so she has lots of room for "creative decision". It won't be blasphemy like some of the things she did with JA but I do hope she don't make CGM all about his wifey. Men do have a personality except their wifeys, ya know Ekta?

Well. Adwitiya my pet, I am not sure if that comment about my style is a compliment,😉 but let me play it safe and take it as one!

I think it might be worth the while to watch the episode on hotstar. The Nand-Avantika confrontation will gladden your heart.

And I liked the derring do of young Chandra, rather like that of Kunwar Pratap in the opening episode of Maharana Pratap, though he was much older. I do not suffer from any Siddharth hangover from Ashoka, as so many here do, and I like this little boy a lot. For one thing, he has the kind of face that could grown into Rajat's.

Doing well.. mmm.. I would say that I am limping along.

Hello Aunty!

Hope you are doing well...

I did not get to watch yesterday's episode so after reading your analysis AND hitting the like, I went and read the written update would watch it on Hotstar later on.

I have nothing new to add to analysis as it is as precise, and perceptive as always - I stick to something I have already said, now I am so acquainted to your style that I will recognise your work even without the conspicuous username and dp 😉

As for the on goings, things seem to be in a building up stage, quite hazy and needlessly dramatic at times, but the course of the story is yet to be set. We have got a straw to the story last night, with Chandragupta's disgust on weakening love, I guess more might be coming up soon. And yes, I completely agree with you on Avantika front and it's good that she's got her due right from the Nand... good for her! 😉

As of now, I'll stick to reading your analysis and drop comments, since my present state prevents me from participating in the regular discussion and watch the episodes, if possible.

See you soon! 🤗

Yes. Mitali my dear, it is much more logical than it was in Jodha Akbar. Do watch the episodes regularly without waiting for the leads. They will not be here so soon, especially not Nandini, and there will be a lot of interesting stuff between then and now.

In one way it is better they saw his childhood to understand his behaviour then understand with tit bit why he is like that (as in ja)and as you say they use some logic which is good for our health.😊I want to watch episod before lead entry how they connecting the dots. As i saw one promo here it will be a story of hatred from both side. That promo was interesting.

Aanvi my dear, thanks for liking my posts so much, but what a lot of fascinating titbits you have collected for me here! Especially the one about Jineet Rath, the young Chandragupta, having played Amar Singh in Maharana Pratap. I dropped out of that after the Pratap-Ajaibde wedding.

Akka,i am getting fan of ur reviews within two days! The reviews are totally correct.

In these two days, this is the first episode I liked to be precise. The entry of CGM somehow looked like Maharana Pratap, but it was good. This episode had everything in right amount, and nothing looked illogical like the previous two episodes.

This episode showed the softer aspect of Nand, however, he hid his cruel side from his daughter.*They could have chose someone better as Nandini, like Ruhanika*

This Chandra Nandini is like bottle opener of memories for me, first Mahabharat cast, and now Maharana Pratap and Chakravrtin Ashoka Samrat. I won't be surprised now if I get to see someone from Siya ke Ram or Jhansi ki Rani😆

About the Maharana Pratap cast, yes the younger CGM is swayam Amar Singh, son of Maharana Pratap!😳😆 I was like Haila, yeh toh thehere Amarji😆

Ria my dear, it is so nice to hear from you!

Episodes 1&2 were lousy, but you can start watching from this one. Khallu ki aaj raat muh dikhayi ho gayi😉, and he was not half bad. We shall get used to him soon.

Yes, my dear, I should be more disciplined, but I am a chronic recidivist. Look at me now, after apologising for not responding individually!

I have just read the WU of two eps and didn't feel enthusiasm to check them out... so i decided to skip untill Rajat's entry... but reading ur analysis of 3rd eps it feels like that the eps is getting interesting nd I am feeling like checking it out... and as our khallu dearest making an entry 😉I will be surely checking out once that how he manages to handle the iconic character...

And take care of ur fingers aunty... seeing the length of ur posts it makes me scared that ur finger's condition might get worse..😕,,, however, i do understand that when the motivation and enthu comes from inside each and every serious pain or injury seems less...😆... That is exactly it, Shreya, your first line. The content too was lousy till this episode. I am so glad you enjoyed this one.

I agree with all the points you have made, especially the one about Nand and his baby daughter. Mura is a pain to the ears and an eyesore as well. Exactly like Nirupa Roy & Co 40 years ago. Your "apparent beauty" is spot on! 😉I do not pay much attention to the background music unless it is a special sloka, but as for the takes being rushed, they want to get to the adult Chandragupta as quickly as possible, and there is a lot of ground to cover yet.

Shyamala Aunty

Originally posted by: sp108

Aunty, I see that you have chosen to see beyond the bad acting and the bad direction and give the content its due. Wonderful analysis Aunty!

For me, the highlight of the episode was when Nand takes his baby girl in his arms. The unspoken paternal love and admiration for his princess was well enacted by Arpit. It was only later that the coins fell. So, his daughter is precious, not because she brought him wealth. He genuinely loves his little girl. For a man so evil, he does have his Achilles heel.

And Karma catches up with Avantika. She cheated on her spouse, and now her new spouse has no qualms cheating on her. She was a Maharani of a man who loved her and her alone, and now she is still the Maharani, but the love is lost.

What is not working for me is the execution of the episodes and the loud background music (the only exception being the background music for Chandra). Things are so rushed up, that emotional scenes are ending up looking unintentionally comical. I hope as the show progresses, we will have less and less of Mura. The dialogues are mostly insincere - like Jodha's bhaashan's. As a result, the emotional impact of the scenes is low.

I liked the observation you made about Nand wanting to marry Mura but not possess her. Unlike Raavan, he is not under a curse that forbids him from possessing a woman out of her will. So I feel there is merit in your observation about Nand wanting Mura to acknowledge him and accept him. But why, I don't know, because he seemed to be enamoured by her apparent-beauty .

Aunty I am glad I did not stick to my resolution of not watching till Rajat's entry and actually watched the episode. It worked at a number of levels for me and stuck all the right cords. I wonder why there was so much flak against it when it was actually a good episode and was setting the stage for the things to come. It was as though the viewers were also determined not to like it after two bad episodes that they were seeing only its flaws.

I agree with almost all the points you made. One, it established Chandroo's character very firmly. Two, the mountain climbing introduction was inspired by Bahubali but not a Makhi ki Makhi copy of the original. I personally feel there is nothing wrong in taking inspiration as long as you make it your own without lifting bodily from the original. Chandroo's distaste and disenchantment with love has a valid basis and was well established in the episode.

There is something really fascinating in using mountaineers and mountaineering as the introductory scene of your protagonist. It shows you the unsuspected depths of the character. The CVs were trying to give us an insight into Chandroo's brave, adventurous and at the same time methodical and goal oriented approach towards life. He is not the person who will be afraid to take risks but at the same time he calculates his every step and move. It is neither more nor less. It is just perfect.

But at one point he falters and is falling but he is quick enough to recover from this minor setback and bounce back by regaining his foothold. He knows no fear and is undeterred by the obstacles in his path. He takes them as a challenge and another opportunity to prove himself. He has immense self belief and confidence and that is something truly inspiring in a small boy of eight. Moreover he is doing all this not for himself but to bring a simple smile in his foster mother's face. This boy is really capable of great love. He can go to the ends of the earth for his loved ones.

Similarly, I found it really heartwarming that love can make even such a hardened criminal like Nand appear humane. His best side as a human being comes out when we see him with his daughter. A pity that his world of goodness ends with her. It does not extend to include the others in the universe, including his wife Avantika or his sons.

He will be good with her and never present his evil side before her. So I can very well see Nandini being delusional about her father' s apparent greatness and blamelessness. Apparently he is going to be her first hero. It will surely take some time for her to realize that her idol had feet of wood and that too rotten!

Whatever defects she has, I believe that she will not be Mahaan like Jodha, neither will she have a cheerleader in Mura who will definitely not be able to welcome her presence in her son's life with the same open and positive frame of mind as Hamida Bano. She has a tough time ahead of her. Her married life will be fraught with hostility and suspicion on all sides for a long long time. And she is going to be alone in this struggle too. She will be going through a severe identity crisis once the truth dawns on her. For some reason, I feel that I am going to actually like and sympathize with Nandini. Why even today the poor little girl is all alone except for her father and brothers.

She has nobody to play with except her father. Why even her mother does not seem to like her. Avantika's personal issues with Nand are getting reflected on her apparent lack of concern and attachment to her own daughter. Even in their arguments, Avantika has clearly no good words or sympathy for this little girl who is her own daughter. Her hatred for Nand overpowers her love for her daughter. Nand loves and literally dotes on Nandini and since she now hates and abhors him, she transfers some part of her hatred towards this poor girl as well. Love can be truly elevating. We can see this in Nand's case where he is good at least when he is with Nandini.

At the other end, Chandroo thinks that love is truly debilitating and makes a person weak and ineffectual. He is not wrong if he thinks so because childhood perceptions play a very important role in shaping the way we think and act. If only his foster mother had not been such a doormat and swept all the abusiveness and issues between her and her husband under the carpet in the name of love, Chandroo would not have developed an instinctive distaste and mistrust for love and human relationships.

She is an escapist and does not want to face the reality. Chandroo assumes that love makes her do so. If love makes you do something which actually hurts you, it must be something really bad. It's a child's vision of things and also perfectly correct and logical too. He is simple and does not hide behind complex and fanciful ideas of love like his foster mother does. The world he has seen till now is what he has seen with his foster parents and the dynamics between them. He will definitely reassess his perception when he witnesses or experiences something directly contrary to what his foster mother describes as love.

Endless number of words from her side are not going to convince him that love is actually a very beautiful emotion. His own personal experiences are going to teach him that. I personally see all the makings of a fantastic and phenomenal love story. I hope that both Chandra and Nandini are going to emerge as stronger characters and mature individuals after experiencing the emotion of love. Nandini will not take away the greatness of Chandra but add to it. She will be the secure anchor of his ship or like the thread which connects the kite with the vast expanse of the skies but at the same time keeps it grounded and secure. That is how a true relationship of love should be.

Shailaja my dear girl,

I am glad you liked this episode as much as I did. One should never read too many threads. I don't.

What a beautiful and perceptive review!👏 I agree with all that you have said here in toto, so I do not need to comment on it, for which my poor fingers must be duly grateful to you!😉

I loved it that you completely share my take on young Chandra's character, including my assessment of his mountain climbing derring do (I have not seen Bahubali) and what it says about him and about what he will become. The overlap is almost total!

His mother is a closet masochist, and she unloads all of that on the poor kid.

Your take on Nandini is spot on, and I too do not think she will do a Jodha on us. But it is your perception of what drives Avantika that is the most interesting, and accurate. There was more of this today, but Nemesis is grinding her to dust.

As for your closing para, agar yeh sach ho jai, to aapke muh mein ghee shakkar!

MDS,

Je suis tout a fait d'accord avec vous, sauf a propos du dernier para. You never saw an 8 year old Jalal in JA, and Rajat came on at the end of the first episode itself. CAS, perhaps yes, but then I think you are still suffering from Siddharth-related withdrawal symptoms!😉 Siddharth was shown as Vanraj at about 14, and then he is far more bubbly than this kid.

I am glad that Avantika got what she deserved. Not only she killed her husband who loved her more than aything and also separated a family. Such a dumbo woman.
Liked Mura's personality but didn't like the acting. 😕 Perfect. Or her looks either!

Mura said to Nand that his daughter will suffer as much as he made suffer all the ladies. Which is wrong. At first Nandini wll be hated by CGM but soon she will win his heart. Plus she will also make his life hell it's not like only CG who will take revenge. 😆 That powerful line was just meh. 👎🏼

So far I am not impressed by CGM's character. I didn't get the same feeling as I got for Akbar and Ashok when I saw them for the first time. CG looked like any normal kid to me. 😕
