Well I think the topic of discussion is diverted. The topic of discussion was Kaurwaki(the character) not Reem neither Saumya. About judging the looks of actors. Well it depends on your perception. Yes they are professional. They are in a field where looks matter. But before that they are humans and so are we. We are free to hate the character. But not the actor based on their looks. Looks are beyond our control, no matter which profession you belong . Actors are chosen not only on the basis of their looks but also on their capability to carry the character.

Some may find Reem not beautiful I respect you pov. For me she is beautiful and she really is . So is Saumya. Disliking the character does not give free hand to bash that person on looks. It means we are questioning the creator itself

And further if you bash an adult actor, probably they wont give two hoots.😆..But can you say the same for teenagers/kids actors ???

And please stick to the topic...😆😆😆

I hope you people have seen the pics of actresses without makeup. 😆 😆 😆 probably the topic wouldn't have diverted .

Subha and Scorpio, posting from the EDT:
Re-posting from the EDT:

I agree to a great extent with both Shyam and Shailusri. Come to think of it, it's the flaws in a fictional character that make them realistic and beautiful. Oftentimes we fail to put ourselves in the shoes of a fictional (in this case, fictionalized historical) character, and expect them to execute every action of theirs in keeping with our idealized notions of behaviour. That, however, is very far from what does and should happen.

It's true that, as both Shyam and Shailu has said, the elder Kaurvaki did take Ashok's attention off his greater goals for a considerable while; though it wasn't exactly her own conscious doing. I guess that with Kaurwaki's entry, the Creatives wanted to break the monotony of the Kondana-search and in-house politicking; and instead, concentrate on building up the relationship arc of AshWaki. That was necessary too, in my opinion. This show is a comprehensive, all-encompassing account of a great Emperor's life; and thus every part of his existence that meant something to him, should be portrayed using the attentive detail it deserves. (that the politics and empire-building part of the tale gets a raw deal, is an altogether different story😛).

If I'm not wrong, there wouldn't have been such a backlash against Kaurwaki's character follies; had the actor in question been a bit polished with respect to her emoting skills. But leaving that out (and the needless over-dramatization of the romance in bits and places), I personally find this whirlpool of emotions in the two lead characters, quite fascinating.

I think we delude ourselves if we say that an actor or an actress's look does not matter . I would say , it's the thing that matters most , YES , even acting comes later . Specially if that actor or actress is looking for a lead role/playing a lead role . That is how this Entertainment Industry' runs . Everyone first judge a actor or actress on his/her looks , because that's what we get from his/her on the first glimpse...whether she can act or gives completely weird expression and shouts at a shrill ( very unprincess-ly ) voice...comes later . Look is most important - that is why all the actors/actresses groom themselves i.e. they try to look better than they actually look .

Also , it's perfectly okay to judge and comment on an actor's look ( and everyone does regardless the moral policing of a few intellectuals 😆 ) . We don't judge a professional ( for example a Doctor or a pilot or a lawyer ) on his looks , do we ? Even for them looks and grooming matters these days . A handsome or a pretty doctor gets more practice than a simpler looking one with same professional eficiency . That is why grooming is now essential in EVERY field of the world . But in Entertainment industry it is absolutely mandatory . Why ? Because they know ( and they should accept ) that their faces and figures will be judged .
Actually , boys do it much more than girls ( sorry Shyam and BB ) . My classmates think Deepika is far far better than Vidya or Kangana ? When I asked them ( and I did asked them because I think highly of Vidya and Kangs as actresses ) why ? Their answer - Have you seen Deepika or not ? She is 100 times hotter than those two . I have got similar opinions everywhere around me .
Last of all - according to IF code of conduct moral policing is against the rule too . You don't like something you read ? Plain ignore or hit the report button .

This is a very interesting comment. I agree that the first thing we look is the looks. Then we look at the talent. Some start fangirling and don't try to look if the actor is talented or not. This is the difference between being an extreme fanatic and just a simple fan.

In aeronautics looks is very important. There are even courses to look mire appealing, more elegant. This is bad but this is how it works.

As much as you have the right to praise an actor's looks you also have the same right to criticize about it. There is no one way. Unless the comment is really cheap. So I guess we should simply let people comment whatever they want be it praising or criticism. That's what I have always done. More than 100 people on IF bashed me but never ever I stopped them. Either I ignored them, laughed at them or replied them back. Why take tension on something so stupid. We come here to enjoy. Now if we like something about the show/character/actor just say it and if we don't like it then let's say it too.

Exactly this !!! But you see , not everybody believes in freedom of speech . They think unless they can cut through others' opinions and established their own as the 'right one' only their day is a waste .
Better ignore such people who likes moral policing and staying on topic . 😳

I wish Shailusri was here. Some of her analyses on Kaurwaki were fascinating.

Wow I could write essays on this topic ! Why I hate Kaurwaki 🤣
Maybe because I was a AshKhara shipper . Though wasn't so into them when their track was going on . Then Kaurwaki entered . My friends stopped watching the show but I still watched it cause i loved Ashok but then Kauwaki got into my nerves . I hated her ! How can some on be so annoying . Maybe I hated the young kaurwaki but then the older version sucks too .
Ahankhara was a beautiful character . She was well portrayed . I don why the hell CVs ruined Devi cause she was the only moral character left after Ahankhara after Ashok turned into devdas !
I hate Kaurwaki cause she ruined Ashok . And I hate CVs more than anything . 🤢

If one can praise her about her looks then one can also criticize it. Why should we always talk about positive things. A forum is made to discuss about the good and the bad. IF is just a place where they want to please the fans. They made all the rules to make them happy. Now when I see a girl with too much makeup on her I also use makeup ki dukaan because it's a term used everywhere. When I see a guy mistreating a girl or cheating on her I call him a douche or jerk. Are we allowed to call him that way ? No ! But still I can't help it. He is what he is. So should we stop saying anything negative and live in our imaginary peaceful world with positivity ?

Look you are getting me wrong. Maybe its my personality such way that I like judging an actor in his or her acting skills more than his or her looks. According to me you cannot make changes with your looks. If I am too dusky or too not so happening etc etc then that's not my fault cause god has made me that way. But if I am an actress the thing that I can control is my acting skills. There are any good looking faces who hardly make it big. Coming to makeup Ki dukaan or being called a jewellery show, I find it to be another thing all together. I just wanna say if you think an actress to be bad in her performance, she cannot carry off her role or perhaps she cannot justify her character then you have full right to criticize her. Look I agree to it that I don't like either Reem nor Soumya acting but that's nothing with their looks but purely on their acting. And one more thing I never called her harsh I just said it would be harsh on any actor to talk about his or her looks.
