Idk 🗝️... reading while on a two-wheeler sounds dangerous 🤔

Maybe just go for the plane instead smiley37

Chatgpt always recommends me good books. Murder in Mahim, The Henna Wars and Too Bright to See were all recommended by Chatgpt. One day I asked the AI, "Recommend some fantasy books about books." Chatgpt recommended some books and one of them was Inkheart (translated from German). Inkheart seems really interesting. But I'm not getting enough time to read Inkheart. I like to read books about books. That's why I bought three books about bookshops (two Japanese books and one Korean book) a few months ago. They're not fantasy though.

Inkheart is wonderful! smiley27 I read it in middle school, my bestie lent it to me.

Do give it a read when you have time, it won't bore you smiley9

Thank god, I thought I was the only one 😭 That third act breakup came outta nowhere, and then the resolution made it even worse 😭 with how distant he started behaving, I really thought he was having doubts bcz they weren't a Platinum match. I mean, it was his life's work and that incredible score is what made him wanna try in the first place, so knowing that score wasn't actually true was bound to create doubts. I would've found it a more reasonable explanation than him forgetting to reach out to her bcz of his business crisis. I mean, it explained the radio silence but then why did he avoid her hands and act hesitant and all that. What was that for? Maybe FMC was being an unreliable narrator? Anyway, it would've been more meaningful if he admitted that he was having doubts bcz of their score but then he decided to believe in them, more than the numbers.

Honestly, a big part of what makes Christina Lauren books work for me is her writing style. Somehow she manages to suck me in without knowing it, and even if I start out wary she ends up turning me stupid and giggly, and then somehow something happens towards the end that brings me out of that trance. And then I feel kinda dissatisfied but also like I shouldn't feel dissatisfied, bcz the rest of the book was so good? Like for TSE I actually considered giving it a 3.5 but then I truly enjoyed the middle half sm that anything less than 4 instantly felt unfair. Her writing is what does it. She's a trickster 😭

I don't remember deets but I know I was annoyed with River at that point smiley36, Honestly, this is why most single PoV romances don't work for me (there are exceptions of course). The MMC ends up feeling very one-dimensional and everything feels like a deus ex machina - like you wait until the last chapter and find out he was always down bad and he was the one that did xyz for the FMC and it has always felt like a copout to me because for me, a romance is all about the journey of two people. I wanna see both growing.

Did you know Christina Lauren is actually two people? I get what you mean about their writing though. It's the exact same feeling I had with two of their celebrated books: The Unhoneymooners (the MMC was a dick here again during the 3rd act break up - this is why I don't like 3rd act break ups! smiley18) & Love and Other Words.

@blue: I knowww but for me it ends up creating the opposite effect smiley18 When I get attached to a character, I only want the best for them. So while I do want those MLs to end up with the love of their lives, I often feel like those FLs don't deserve them smiley24 and that takes away from my enjoyment of the story. I can only root for a romance when I truly feel like both these ppl deserve each other. They should be the "right" person for the other. It doesn't work if only one person is right smiley24

@green: I'll add it to my never-ending TBR smiley36 I feel like the author name sounds familiar, either I've read her or I already have her in my TBR

@red: Nooo don't say that, I have that book sitting on my shelves since ages, I've always been lowkey excited for the day I finally read it smiley19

@Purple: YES YES This x infinity. A romance is about two people and I need to be able to root for them both to have their HEA otherwise it leaves me feeling deflated and dissatisfied however much I may love the MMC.

Oh read TKQ.smiley36 It's good. I analyze everything too deeply for my own good smiley11

Hey Lizzie, how are you finding After That Night by Karin Slaughter? Is it interesting? I'm thinking of giving it a try, but I didn't like Pretty Girls. It. felt so dragged.

Also I see this book is part of the Will Trent series and I haven't read any of the previous books. Is it a standalone?

It's good so far, I'm more than halfway through! Yeah, I know it's part of a series but it feels like a standalone. I haven't been thrown by anything so far.

Pretty Girls gets such mixed reviews. Makes me wary of reading it. smiley6

Yes, I really want to read it. The story seems very interesting. The language of the book is poetic and beautiful. Actually I'm not getting enough time to read Inkheart because it's a long book. Did you read all the books of Inkworld series? I enjoy reading books about books and if fantasy elements are mixed with the stories then they become fascinating. Themes like magical books, books opening portals to different worlds, cursed books capture my attention. I wrote a story named The Whispering Book. smiley36

Do you know The Neverending Story by Michael Ende? It's about a boy who finds a book, starts reading it and is drawn into a magical world. So much so that he realises that he himself has become a character in the story.

Tbh I'm kinda scared to get into this one cos it's about kids. Kids and animals being harmed kinda gives me the heeby-jeebies. smiley11 The latter more so. I still haven't gotten over GGGTM smiley11
