Worth a read for sure - a welcome change from all the Freida MacFaddens I’ve been consuming lately smiley36

This is on my to-read list seeing it talked about on Tiktok smiley36... I'm currently reading Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead following a break from reading. Forgot for a while how much I miss reading books but VA got me back into it.

Have you read 'The Wife Upstairs by Rachel Hawkins?' That's another on my list to read this year. That's another that is hyped so I am hoping it does live up to it.

I ended up borrowing a book called The Wife Upstairs but it ended up being Freida McFadden and not this one! smiley36 That gave me an eerie deja vu cos I read it right after Colleen Hoover's Verity and there's so much similarity! I wonder Colleen didn't sue! smiley22

I do have the Hawkins one on my TBR too.

If you end up reading Look Closer let me know what you thought of it! smiley9

Yes, will share my review. I hope I do enjoy it. Been struggling with finding books to keep my interest so returned to VA an old favourite to get me back.

The never ending TBR lists becomes longer and longer each time smiley37I added the Syndicate by Runyx recently to read so I could finish off the series but delaying it because I wanted to listen to the audiobook plus I also don't want it to end smiley36

How did you find Verity? I did consider picking it up, but there were a lot of mixed reviews due to it being so different than her norm and I didn't want to be disappointed as I did enjoy a couple of the books she did write. I've only read November 9 and Ugly love.

Verity was fine. Not spectacular and some of the topics were quite disturbing. It's the only CoHo book I've read and I found it alright - dunno if I want to pick up more of here work though. I initially thought Freida's book came out first but then realized it was the other way round. Truly, it's shocking how similar they are - fact is I'm hearing this about a lot of Freida books, which makes me want to reconsider reading her at all but her books are quick reads and do help me reach my reading goals so...smiley8 Not to mention that I've become quite good at guessing her twists smiley36

The only CoHo one I would recommend is Ugly love as that was one I enjoyed but again this was eons ago so my tastes have since refined smiley37

I find more and more books are really similiar especially when they are written on the same themes. Last year, I read a lot of Mafia/Dark romance stories and by the 5th or 6th book, they all blurred and I kept seeing some similar scenes in each and wondered whether they all just read each other's and gotten inspired smiley36

I do enjoy a quick read now and then especially when it's nearing the end of the year and need to finish my goodreads reading challenge smiley37

THE MANUSCRIPT MARAUDERS

If you liked the concept of Verity but not CoHo's writing style, a lot of people have recommended reading Rebecca by Daphhe du Maurier. I haven't gotten around to reading it myself, but I've always heard good things about it.

I also listened to a standalone novel co-written by Saxon James & Eden Finley. It's called 'The B*stard and the Heir' and I can confidently say it's my least favourite book from either of them. Forbidden romance is enjoyable when it's actually done well (or at least in the way that I like to enjoy it) and this book was just not my cup of tea. I will say though, one of the narrators did such a good job, I've never actually full-on sobbed due to an audiobook narration before.

I also finished reading Four Eids and a Funeral and I really enjoyed it! Although it didn’t give me that same five-star feeling that ‘Ace of Spades’ or ‘Hani and Ishu’s Guide to Fake Dating’ did, I’d definitely re-read it and recommend it to people. 4.5 stars for this one!

WOO GUESS WHO FOUND HER PASSWORD?! (lies, I had to change it)

Anyway, I've been continuing with the m/m contemporary romance audiobooks and would LOVE some sapphic book recs with similar vibes.

I've also recently picked up Faridah's new book - Where Sleeping Girls Lie. Very excited to read this because everyone says it's definitely a step up from her debut, and I LOVED Ace of Spades!

I don't know if I mentioned this, but I'm slowly getting into the Windy City series. I finished Mile High and started listening to The Right Move, which I'm enjoying a lot more (although I will always defend Mile High because I think a lot of the criticism that I've personally seen is a little unfair).

Also, I plan to read every book in the Percy Jackson universe this year, and if anyone wants to join me, hit me up.

I loved this series! I really like Liz Tomforde's writing style and yes The Right Move was great but I did still enjoy Mile High too! And Caught up is pretty great too. Play Along was probably my least favorite though I'm really looking forward to Rio's book!

I have read and watched Rebecca ... though it was a long time ago, But I did watch the recent Lily James version and it was such an abomination! smiley11
