LOL, I thought The God of Small Things was a wonderful book. Beautiful, vivid language and a heartbreaking story. Besides that, the way Roy structured the story was unique -- carefully using flashbacks to reconstruct a character's fragmented memory.

The most boring book I read was Dracula by Bram Stoker.

Reading your comments Tanaz, I am wondering, may be I ought to give reading teh book a try; it was quite some time back i read it and may be , this time ... I don't know, but I just remember, really going off track with the book! 😊

To be honest, on second thoughts , I am not sure, I wanna attempt it! All due respect to teh book and the author really!

Hey Sareeta,

No need to re-attempt the book because of me, LOL. There are several books listed on this thread that I really liked - including The Alchemist. But that just implies a difference in tastes.
Another Booker winner, Kiran Desai, failed to hold my attention with The Inheritance of Loss, while my friend LOVED the book.

:-) Yeah, I know, differing tastes! Aah, I've certainly heard about Inheritance of Loss and was advised against it by another friend of mine, who shares similar tastes and well I didn't get a chance to read it so far and well... I might some day ! :-)

And oh, I loved the book 'The Alchemist' But I really dread to read anything by Ms Roy only because , I might not be able to appreciate her style and might end up just dumping the book mid way!

But I do notice, some books really hold my interest despite the world screaming otherwise!!!
