It'd be the Harry Potter books for me. I could read any of em on any given day. Give me Harry Potter and I am one happy, happy person. It depends on my mood which one of them I pick up on a particular night. I'd pick up either of the first two so they produce a feel-good effect on me. If I've been troubled in the head I make selective chapters from the fifth and seventh books my sanctuary.

Gone with the wind is racist imo, just so so so racist! It provides a biased view, glorifies the ku klux klan and mitchell seems to think black people have only role-being slaves to the rich white people.
Rhett who is supposed to be so wise and repeatedly points out to scarlett the problems with south and southerners never once mentions that slavery and racism is bad too...if he could point out that the practice of suttee is inhumane then why not something about racism and how hideous it is?
Not to mention the glorification of marital rape

Though lately I can't think of a book like that, for a long time it was Little Women by Louisa May Alcott. I would read it every year, come rain or sunshine, from school all the way to college. I never seemed to get enough of the story of the March sisters. Have to revisit it again sometime.
