I find Lord Of The Rings as Overrated. I haven't read Twilight to comment on it.

But LOTR is too serious that untile I saw the film I had no idea of what it was all about. I know its quite a heady statement to make, but what's there so much in it? Yes, doubtlessly Tolkein has put a great deal of effort and work AND the volume is huge. Plus once I got the time and energy, I found the storyline interesting. But just interesting...that's all. nothing hugely, phenomenly spell binding for me.

Furthermore, "Reading Lolita in Tehran" is as over-rated as they come. RLT consists of an extremely boring lecture on numerous books. The writing style is hard to follow with Nafizi jumping to and from one topic to another without providing constant links. I clearly don't see why anyone would want to slog through her ostensible insights (which are scattered around) on the books/authors when one could buy the study guide of said book(s).

I can't argue whether it is an over-rated book or not, since I picked it up on impulse and hadn't really heard of it from anyone. However, I didn't find the writing style hard to follow, and don't think it was specifically only meant to be about the books discussed. It was about the girls, the study group they formed, and the general feeling and state of Iran at the time. Yes, the writing on the various books discussed could get irksome, especially if said books weren't covered by the reader, and it didn't have a clear plot per say. Nevertheless, it wasn't particularly boring/awful and neither was it a great book.

Coming back to the topic: I'd only be repeating others but Twilight is all that comes to mind, at the moment.

1984 By George Orwell was TORTURE to read (I had to read it for school), and then............................TWILIGHT! Ahhh!!!!!!!! I can't stand how it's being compared to Harry Potter (which is clearly SO much better!) And the Edward Cullen Obsession is SO getting on my nerves!

Sorry if I offended anyone, but I had to get thato ff my chest. :)

Don't worry about it... I feel exactly the same, even though I read all four books and watched the movie... sure, the plot was kind of different and so the first book was okay.... I actually like New Moon better than the others because there's less of Edward in it.... but I still cannot say that I like Twilight....

What? 1984 is SOOOOOO good!

I agree with you on twilight.. and what's worse is that the internet is flooded with all these 'edward cullen is my husbanddddd' 11 year olds. And then they run around screaming 'twilight is teh greatest book evaaa' [that's how the type, not me].. and i'm just like have you read any other books..and those kids most likely only read twilight and the cat in the hat or whatever other books they have to read in school..and heck anything by dr.seuss OWNS s. meyer.
