| Bollywood's Magic Wand How many time's have you seen a magazine cover and wished you looked as chiseled and stylish as the actor or actress' staring back at you. But let us give you a reality check here... If you saw their images before they are digitally touched up and given a healthy dose of airbrushing, you would realise that they looked as good (or bad!) as you or I did when we rolled out of bed every morning! However, if you think airbrushing is used only for magazines, think again. While Bollywood maybe beautiful, it is definitely not perfect nor immune to the visible signs of ageing. If you are wondering how 40-plus stars look barely 30, let us tell you that they too go under the magic wand known as air brushing. And it's not just the women but the men who receive an equal amount of air brushing. A source from one of the leading production and editing suites gave us some dope on Bollywood's leading men and women. Hema Malini: As beautiful as she maybe, this doe-eyed dancer needed digital retouching to erase crows feet and under-eye bags to look youthful and glowing as ever in her last movie. Salman Khan: His wild youth seems to be finally catching up. When under-eye creams do not help digital is the way to go to clear your eye area. SRK: Age does not spare anyone and not even this superstar whose inadequate sleep and excessive smoking do no good to his skin. His under-eye wrinkles were magically erased making him look 15 years younger in his blockbuster last year. Amitabh Bachchan: But what comes as a great surprise for all of us is that one of Bollywood's most senior actors needs no air brushing at all. In his mid-sixties, the original DON and Shahenshah has aged so gracefully and usually portrays characters that agree with his age and so his shots do not need to be digitally altered. Airbrushing or photoshopping is a technique that enhances attributes and erases faults. Photos are digitally retouched so that they appear flawless. Digital correction is used to brighten the colours in movies and erase flaws in the physical appearance of actors. |
