'Khan't get better than this'

About four days back, Salman Khan's 41-year-old servant, Else Mudaliar was admitted to hospital after she complained of hemorrhaging and pain. Else has been serving the Khans for the last five years and has her kith and kin in Karnataka.

The family soon admitted her to a hospital, under the guidance of Dr Chopra, who is also involved in The Salman Khan Foundation. The doctor then realised that, apart from a heart condition, Else had fibroids in her uterus. So Else was operated upon and her uterus removed on Wednesday afternoon.

What is heartening is the fact that every member of the Khan family has been keeping constant vigil on the lady and are even taking turns to do the same. That includes Salman himself, Salman's father Salim Khan, mothers Salma and Helen, sister Arpita and bhabhiMalaika Arora Khan.

Also, when the doctor informed Salma that Else would need blood, the gracious lady herself offered to donate blood. When she was denied the opportunity being old, she managed to get five staff members to donate blood.

Else, understandably is all praises for the Khans. She says, "They are like God to me. My family is not here and I could have easily died. They have been very supportive. Each and every member of the family paid me a visit and took care of me. Even when she is not here, Salmaji keeps calling up to inquire about my health."

Dr Chopra seems rather touched by the episode too. He says, "I have had patients who are either related to celebrities or have been staff members of the celebrities. But this is the first time that I have seen such great involvement on the part of a family. I am overwhelmed."

That's not all. Next week, Salman Khan's foundation will be sponsoring two patients for an operation involving Cochlear implants—one is a six-year-old-child and the other is an 18-year-old girl, both of whom are hearing impaired.

Each operation would cost the foundation at least seven and half lakhs. Salman wants both the operations done before May 5, which is when he is going abroad for an outdoor shoot. He will be away for more than a month. So he wants to be present during both the operations.
