Simran to act with Shah Rukh and not Sonam
Contrary to previous reports Shah Rukh Khan will not be romancing Sonam Kapoor in Aditya Chopra's Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. That specific role has gone to a new girl by the name of Simran.
Simran is a newcomer and has had no experience of acting at all. She has purely been selected on her simple Punjabi looks, something that was essential for the role to be played. According to a source from the Yash Raj Films camp, "She's currently staying at a hotel in Juhu. She doesn't have any acting background and was chosen solely on the basis of her looks and the screen test."
"The script for the film is fresh and even though it's a love story it has an interesting twist in the climax. Adi was toying with the idea of working with an established actress, but it was Shah Rukh's suggestion that they go with a newcomer. Simran impressed Adi with her innocence and that was important for the character. Even though she's new to the industry, Simran wasn't star struck when she met SRK for the first time," continues the source.
By coincidence, the name Simran is the same as of Kajol's character in Aditya Chopra and Shah Rukh Khan's debut venture Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge. "Simran told Adi how she had watched DDLJ several times and never thought she would act with SRK one day," said the source.
Simran has been put up in a hotel with her parents and is currently going through the script of the film. She will also be groomed and shown the ropes in due course.
