Sonam will have to wait for SRKThe news that Sonam Kapoor has been signed for Aditya Chopra's Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi , reported by a Mumbai tabloid can be tagged as just another speculation. A perfect leading lady still eludes the film. In fact if the buzz is to be believed, the auditions and heroine-hunt for this Yash Raj film is far from over.
An industry insider closely associated with the Yash Raj banner confirms, "Aditya still hasn't finalized a girl opposite Shah Rukh Khan in the film. The search is still on and perhaps will continue for some more days. They have time till the first week of April by when they plan to start the film". Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi will be Aditya Chopra's comeback to direction after a spate of 7 long years. The last film he directed was Mohobbatien in 2000.
But what transpired into reporting that Sonam Kapoor is in the film? There is no smoke without fire! "Apparently Sonam was amongst the many girls who were auditioned for the film. But since the makers are still looking out for more girls, it does indicate that they haven't signed Sonam for the role", claims the insider. "At least Sonam is not finalized, as yet".
From what is known about the project, Aditya Chopra's film is set in North India. It's a love story between a 40-year-old guy played by Shah Rukh Khan and a 16-year-old girl, who is to be finalized. The girl's character needs to speak chaste Punjabi.
Apart from this film, Yash Raj is also looking out for another fresh female face for their other project starring Shahid Kapoor and Rani Mukherjee. The actress will be the second female lead of the film and though her role is just of around 30-minute duration in the film, it is central to the plot.
