Himesh all geared up for Karzzzz

New Look - My sister Rupa is designing my costumes for me. I am a simple Gujarati boy and a music director. I have to live up to Rishi Kapoor's image. I am a music director, I have never danced nor acted but I am on the journey of an actor now. I had to lose weight considering that all the top stars are fitness freaks. I have been a music director and you know how erratic their lives are. Above all I am an ice cream freak, a complete foodie. Now I am controlling my diet and trying to get into shape. As a common man there are many challenges before me. But with the love and support of my fans I am ready to fight against all odds. I don't want to disappoint them.

Music - The film will have eight songs and six have been recorded. One will be turned into a video and there will also be eight remixes. One will be a lounge version. I've sung the songs for the male versions. I don' think any voice will suit my face since no one has a nasal voice. My favourite amongst the original was Dard-e-dil.

New version Karz - It is a love story with comedy, entertainment and revenge. But this will be a contemporary version with a realistic approach. The screenplay is almost the same since it is an adaptation of the original. It is not identical but you will find the flavour of the earlier Karz in the film.

Why a Karz remake? Bhushanji (T-Series head honcho Bhushan Kumar) wanted to produce a film and he was keen to do a musical. He approached me first and then we started looking for subjects. We decided to go ahead with the Karz remake since it is still loved by the audiences. We approached Subhashji and he was ready to give us the copyrights. I met Rishiji at Amritsar's golden temple and he gave me his blessings. Karz is something that can work anytime.

Dancing – I am taking dancing lessons. I have never tried dancing before. But I am trying my best and hope I don't disappoint my fans. I am still in the learning process.

Audience expectations - I think if I can achieve one percent of what Rishi Kapoor has done I think I have won the battle. He's a legendary actor and I'll try to live up to the audience expectations. Even the music of the original Karz created by Laxmikant Pyarelal has been tremendous. I've to give music which will be above expectations. I have to be very careful when I am trying to recreate it. I am under a lot of pressure. We are sure comparisons will be made. But then Don and Devdas were remakes and have done well. We are trying to make our film the best and I need the blessings of the audience for the success of my film.

Future Plans - I am a music director who earlier produced serials and then shows. I turned a singer in due time and have achieve success. I turned actor with Aap Ka Suroor. I don't know about the future. It's not an easy job. I have tried my hand in music. Everyone is expecting a lot and are endorsing on it. If I don't find success as an actor I will return to composing.

Revealing more about Himesh's new look in the Karz remake, his sister Roopa Chaddha told us, "Himesh plays the character of Monty which was played Rishi Kapoor. Rishi was one of the trendiest actors in Bollywood at that time, so there will be some shades of his style. Also a lot of old fashion is back. Himesh himself has a rock star image so it will help a lot."

Rupa, who has shopped in Europe and Hong Kong for his wardrobe in the film, adds "All these years we have been trying to create his identity but now that he has become an actor he has to dress according to the role. He will be seen in caps because we don't want to disappoint his fans but a large portion of the film will be shot without a cap. We will be dispensing a lot of his jackets too as he has lost around 7 kgs for his role. Himesh will be seen in clothes that will flatter him and the audiences."
