Overseas: 'O.S.O. has a record start in U.K., U.S.A.

OM SHANTI OM has fetched a flying start in the major markets. In U.K., OM SHANTI OM is the second biggest opener ever, after KABHI ALVIDA NAA KEHNA. O.S.O. has crossed the 3-day total of biggies like VEER-ZAARA [ 484,993], KAL HO NAA HO [ 436,790], DEVDAS [ 466,370], KABHI KHUSHI KABHIE GHAM [ 473,355] and DHOOM 2 [ 415,701]. In the U.S., the film has fetched the biggest ever opening for a Hindi film, garnering $ 1.75 million in its first 3 days. Incredible!

SAAWARIYA has fared below expectations in U.K. The numbers may seem impressive considering it stars a new pair, but given the fact that it's made by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and released during the festive season, it falls short of expectations in U.K. However, the business is impressive in America.

Weekend: November 9 – 11, 2007.

I heard it is the movie. People loved the potshots and 70s fun. There is no specific genre. It has everything from humor to horror. Many went to watch it for SRK but then actually liked the film for it's content. I think their strategy worked because they didn't give any false expectations. The promos clearly showed how goofy the film is. What one would see in the film and that's what audience got.

So more people are actually praising the film not because it is something great but for the reason that the outcome was exactly as expected.

If I am lucky then I will get to watch OSO and Saawariya this weekend.

Well, more than the film, it's sheer power of King Khan and his grassroot marketing that made OSO a stupendous success. Otherwise, if you were to rate OSO on cinema lines, it is not much to talk about. The film has an amazing mix of all original bollywood masalas...which make it a good entertainer for the masses. But it doesn't really translate it into a good film....

It's better to have your own judgment on every film instead of sticking to 'I heard'. Having missed some wonderful films like Swades , I can safely say that we ourselves are the best judge.

I am someone who never cared about reviews neither critics or people. As I have mentioned before I use my own judgement. I am someone who have loved Govinda's films and you know how cheap-goofy they are😆. But I have loved them. I am someone who loved KJo's KANK, YRF films like DDLJ. I am a Malayali who have watched all of Priyadarshan's Malayalam films so his Hindi remakes of the same bores me. I also enjoyed Metro, Raincoat and Adoor GopalaKrishnan's and Aravindan's (both critically acclaimed-award winning directors) Malayalam films.

So you see I really don't care about any "mass" or "intellect" cinema. If something is well-made then I will like it.😊

To be a well made film there has to have a well written script.
