Trishala Dutt says she can't believe 'an honest man' like her father Sanjay has been given such a harsh sentence in the 1993 blasts case

But He's Honest! Sanjay Dutt with Trishala pic/ PRADEEP DHIVAR
Trishala Dutt, Sanjay Dutt's 18-year-old daughter, has been in a state of shock ever since she found out that her father has been sentenced to six years rigorous imprisonment for possessing illegal weapons.

Trishala, who celebrates her birthday on August 10, had asked for her father's freedom as a present this year but has only got disappointment from the Indian judiciary.

Currently in New York, she expressed deep distress over her father's fate minutes after the verdict was announced.

What are you feeling?
I am shattered and speechless. Why did it have to happen to an honest man like him?

Did you speak to your father?
Yes, I've been in constant touch with dad since early morning. In fact, we almost broke down last night on the phone. He even spoke to me before he entered the court.

Did he sound low?
Yes, dad was stressed out but made a point of not showing it to me. I can't imagine what he must be going through at this moment. I am scared and worried for him.

Have you spoken to him since the sentencing?
Dad means the world to me and I am missing him a lot. I want to speak to him at once.

Do you have any plans to come to India?
Dad didn't want me to come and face the judicial proceedings. After consulting my aunts and grandparents here (New York), I shall decide what to do.

UNBELIEVABLE!
A shocked industry reacts to Sanjay Dutt's six year jail sentence in the 1993 bomb blasts case

Subhash Ghai (producer):

Sanju is like family. We are still praying that God be kind to him in the coming times. He has been punished enough for the last 14 years and has tried his best to be a good citizen.

Bunty Walia (producer):

I am very disappointed. The mood was very optimistic when he left for court this morning. It's very sad. I don't know what will happen in the Supreme Court, as I am not aware about the intricacies of the law.

Anupam Kher (actor):

I am heartbroken. He has suffered at many levels. Even being written about and discussed in the way he had been is a big suffering.

Rati Agnihotri (actress):

The film industry must get together and request the judiciary to reconsider this decision. Everybody will vouch for Sanju — even the spot boys love him. He has already served time for his mistake, so why punish him again? His daughter Trishala saying that she wants to come to India to be with him brought tears to my eyes.

Ashok Pandit (director):

The industry must unite and appeal to the judiciary to reconsider. He is not an ordinary man. He is a fighter. Anybody else in his place would have committed suicide by now. Knowing him, he will come out as a winner.

Kunal Kohli (director):

Even though I haven't done any films with Sanju nor am I in his circle of friends, the decision has hit me hard. Whenever he has met me, he has always encouraged me. His sisters and daughter's grief cannot be estimated.

Poonam Dhillon (actor):
I've always believed that Sanju is foolish but not a criminal element. The sentence is unfortunate. He has already served time in prison, so they could have been a little more lenient. This is one mistake he'll have to pay a heavy price for

I also think that Sanjay acted foolish by doing whatever he did and those guys used him thinking he is a son of a minister.....but he has been reformed and has not commit any crime after that.....I guess he should not be given such a harsh punishment.....I wonder sometimes how salman khan is free after running his car over people and killing them 🤢

yea i agree sanjay didnt deserve this he had already spent such a long tyme in prison and the judge shoulda been more helpful at the end and let him meet his family i mean after all he was the only man in the house and i dont think this whole issue is worser then salman khan runnin over the homeless people at night sanjay had a gun but dint harm anyone he didnt fire and bullets he kept it for safety and some how they connected it with the underworld😕and salman ran over so many people which is worser because he did it and got away whih isn't fair at all

Well, if only he had not kept weapons at home and had rmed police that there is some attack in the planning, this would have been avoided. According to earlier reports, lot of ammunition was kept at his house for storage. Then next day it was removed by Abu Salem's people and Sanjay Dutt kept AK47 and hand grenades.

Had he informed the police about those people, 93 blasts could have been avoided. He indirectly helped the terrorists. Also who keeps AK47 and hand grenades for their safety? These are weapons that can kill 10s and hundreds of people. Even if he did that mistake unknowingly, he should pay the price.

Also people say that he has been so nice for last 14 years. I agree with that, but if he had not been under police surveillance 24/7 would he behave the same way? Also just because he is nice now does not mean his punishment can be forgiven. Maybe 6 years is a lot. But he needs to pay for his deeds.

I do feel bad too because I am his fan. I think Salman Khan should also get some punishment for running over a sleeping person and killing him. He is roaming free.
