We caught up with the teenager at her Andheri bungalow in the middle of her diet routine, and we were bowled over. With looks that could kill, and surprisingly demure manners, Hannsikaa is sure that she will not let fame get to her head. "the best way to get to the top is by performance. Tantrums don't take you anywhere," she says, "I always wanted to be an actress. Now that I am here, I will make a mark." And that she did, even as a child artiste. By making her presence felt with performances in soaps like Kyunki, Des Mein Nikla Hoga Chaand and later in films like Koi Mil Gaya, Jaago, Hum Kaun hain, Hannsikaa proved her mettle long ago. But an avtaar change was what she needed, and that happened ever since her films, Desamuduru in Telugu and Aap ka Suroor in Hindi did well. She was touted as the lucky girl in the industry with a Midas' touch. But it's a whole lot of hard work, not just luck, she says. "My role in Aap ka Suroor required me to put on weight so that I looked older. I did just that. Now I am called to shed weight to add some oomph to my roles and that's what I will do," she says. That's not all, there are more rules she has set for herself — no late nights and no pubbing. "I need to look good for the shoot next morning. Besides, at this point in my career, it makes no sense spoiling it all with the wrong lifestyle. I am clear about what I want. these are a few steps I must take to ensure that my dreams come true while my values remain intact." Offers have come aplenty after Aap Ka Surroor, but she is clear that she will only opt for roles with substance. "It is easy to make a mistake right now," she says. "So I am treading carefully. It is vital that my decisions be right at this juncture of my career." |
