Ajay Devgan: The 'real' action hero
Ajay Devgan entered Bollywood as an action hero but has changed his image to a versatile actor over the years. However, he is still in love with action and so no surprises then that he has done some daredevil stunts for Raj Kumar Shantoshi's Halla Bol himself.
The scene demanded of Ajay that he drive a car when it's rammed by a truck. Ajay had to come out of the car within seconds of it becoming pulped metal. The stunt was risky and he could have ended up hurting himself very badly. But he managed to pull off the stunt without harming himself.
Most macho heroes shy away when it comes to doing death-defying stunts and action shots but a few insist on doing it themselves and Ajay is definitely one of them. The son of stunt director Veeru Devgan, he has no fear of stunts since childhood. Recently while shooting for Halla Bol, Devgan begged, pleaded, cajoled and even threatened to walk out of the film if he was not allowed to do the stunt himself. Finally filmmaker Raj Kumar Santoshi relented and gave in to Devgan's wishes.
This is not the first time that he has performed such dangerous stunts. In his debut movie Phool Aur Kaante he performed a spectacular feat – standing to two bikes with legs apart and doing
the perfect balancing act. The memorable scene was repeated again in last year's hit comedy Golmaal.
In his interviews while taking about stunts, Devgan has always maintained that all kinds of possible safety and precautions are taken before shooting for such dangerous scenes.
