Why do you think that was Minty?

We can discuss about what genre of films work or worked after that.

No movie would achieve success with KJO playing a gangster. smiley4

Perhaps not.

Time for such films to earn big is gone, after 2020.

Home cinema has replaced theatre experiences...it's not easy to predict the fate of content-driven movies in theatres... I think, one should dare to release in theatres even with little boxoffice...just because movies are for theatres...smiley1

No. And let me tell you why. Timing matters.

In 2015, Deepika was fresh off of 2013. Where she delivered four 100 crore films - something that no other top actress has done since. This was her peak.

Deepika was well-positioned to star with Amitabh and together they made it what it was.

Today, there is no one that can do this (including current day Deepika)

I watched a KBC episode, wher Farah Khan was offering a script to Big B. Farah offered a bonus of Deepika bringing the snacks. The banter went on..about her pregnancy .Add SRK to the film and I am seatedsmiley42

I don't think so.

Post-Covid, people have shifted to enjoying content on their Smart TV while sitting on the sofa.

Movies need to have a huge pull for them to go to the theatre.

The current philosophy is - Why waste money on tickets, popcorn, travel - unless it gives me over-the-top, loud, Masala entertainment? The masala movies can be watched while browsing on the phone while the toddlers scream - does not need investment.

So in a nutshell, no, in today's time, it would probably not be a hit.

Where does that leave the female leads?

Let's see. Post pregnancy it is harder for actresses to come back stronger. But Deepika is extremely disciplined. So I think she will be able to return to movies.

2013-2015 she was on another level no doubt. I think because of depression, her spark dimmed down a bit after that. Depression takes half of your life force. Still I always have high hopes from Deepika when her movies release. She is a rare talent in bollywood(for me) and a force to reckon with.
