This shows how desperate they are to rehabilitate Abhishek's career. They turn down an A-List role for Aishwarya as leading lady to give Abhishek a supporting role. At the same time it shows how pathetic his career is that they knew they could easily find Aishwarya another leading role but Abhishek was lucky to even get this one supporting role.

Gimme a break. Actors turn down roles all the time for various reasons. Maybe she didn't see anything in Jawan for her. It was an out-and-out SRK star vehicle. PS had a meaty role for her.

Aishwarya's choices in her career are her own responsibility. She is a frigging 50-year-old woman with her own resources, not an infant. She went up against a criminal with wide connections. You think she doesn't have the nerve to speak out against Bachchans?

I get it. Fans would like her to act more. She doesn't feel like it. Too bad. It's her choice. And she is responsible for the outcome. Which she seems quite comfortable with, btw.

When SRK casted Aish for Chalte, could he know that Salman would come and disturb not only the shooting but also become violent? Do you know if - probably - Aish had a bit fuelled Salman's jealousy by talking too much about SRK which made him storm into the set? Do you even know if SRK really wanted to replace her or if that simply had been the more rational thing to do?

Producers generally replace actors/actresses if they get the impression they should do so. SRK got his role in Deewana because he was asked to replace another actor who had already been casted...

Aish was thrown out of Veer Zaara???!!! Tell me more about that...(I don't know about that)

Dark and Aish had great chemistry in Devdas.. Damm shame we never saw more of them

There were a lot of opportunities over the years but then again the actresses who replace her were great too and worked well with SRK (Only actresses who have bad chemistry with SRK are Katrina and Anushka)

It has been the general belief.I may be wrong . Aish fans would know better. I would like to hear their point of view too.

Shah Rukh Khan had later apologised to Aishwarya Rai for this act. The films included Chalte Chalte and Veer Zaara.

Well, the interview is here and the part about SRK and her starts at about 11 min....it is an interesting watch in terms of the expression of her eyes and what she says and how she worded it...

(if you want, I can elaborate more but be aware, that SRK rather quickly voiced his regrets to have been forced by pragmatism to go against his emotions. And also keep in mind that her relationship with Salman was on the verge to get ended by her anyways.)
