I haven't seen "Shabd" yet, but after reading this review, I'm definitely intrigued! It sounds like a really intense and unsettling movie, with a great performance by Sanjay Dutt. However, the treatment of Aishwarya Rai's character as just an object of desire for the male characters doesn't sound great. I'm not sure if I'm in the mood for something this heavy right now, but I'll definitely keep it in mind for when I am.

Back in those time, internet wasn't so big & people didn't have a lot of scope to talk about good acting or bad acting. Atleast to me, it solely depended on weather it intrigued me or not & it did. I actually quite liked that film. I usually don't go into discussion about acting even now unless it's really bad & you can't watch them because they are so bad. 😆

May be as a teen, my mind & life wasn't complicated, so I could handle the bizarre plot. I was really amused how SD's character were creating all these scenarios to make his own wife fall for another man (when he couldn't handle his own doings, he went mad. Literally!) & see where his story goes. The way he gave her a make over & did all the shit. I felt bad for Zayed's char who had no clue that Ash was married (If my memory is serving me right) & Ash didn't even make any attempt to clear it for him until later. (?) Make me wonder why would a woman do it unless she too wasn't falling for him.

Any way, ending was a bit confusing. I still don't know whether Zayed left or Ash was in a relationship when SJ went to asylum.

Ash looked stunning in the film. The songs were very nice. The voice over were really captivating as well.

The plot was indeed quite bizarre. The movie can be very boring at points but overall it’s not a bad film. It did look like the author was pushing his wife to have an affair with another guy so that he could get some inspiration to write his story book since he was looking for something “realistic”. But in his mind he knew that his wife would always be loyal to him, she won’t overstep her boundaries and she was indeed loyal, she enjoyed her friendship with a younger carefree guy who made her laugh occasionally. I found it absolutely ridiculous though, why did the wife agree to such a thing? If I am married I am obviously off limits and I won’t let any man get closer to me like that, also while keeping him in dark about my marital status. She knew he was developing feelings for her but she didn’t once tell him that she was married and he should back off! Sanjay’s character was anyway a lunatic, he was obsessed with his stories and as the film suggested, the line which separated fictional world from the real one was blurred for him, that’s why he lost his mind. They both played with that guy’s feelings. And at the end he just left, Ash was never in a relationship with him.

Zayed’s character didn’t die as Sanjay imagined. He just left.
