Not as a reminder of her old life but as a reminder of how she rejected that life. I think she used it as an anchor to keep herself focused in turning a new leaf, to always remind herself to never let go. I can’t fathom her giving anymore value to that diamond which was literally Cal’s property. Even in the end when she threw it away, her emotion is not of fondness but a bout of various emotions from vehemence (for what she escaped) to gratitude to love . I think she did not want that diamond to be passed on because she considers it as useless and unworthy.

What is your interpretation? Why do you think she kept it as a precious memory?

I think it was precious because that was the only thing left to remind her of Jack. She had nothing else, not even his picture. If it had not been precious she would've just given it to Lovett, or thrown it anywhere. Not come from so far away to tell Lovett her story and then throw the necklace in the ocean. She came there to throw it in the exact spot where Titanic sank and Jack died, because it belonged there according to her.

Got to read beautiful theories on that necklace. When in the 90s when i watch the film i did not understand the meaning of it i was like why threw away give it to me🤣my innocent days i was 12 yrs old when the film came out did not understand the meaning of the film & the incident of Titanic sinking was real

Than when age grew up i watch the film again & again and understood the depth of the meaning of love in it and thelve b/w Jack & Rose than i read abt the incident that brought tears in my eyes when reading. The book had more details than the film though how overconfidence and arrogance just took away so many lives in that frozen night in the middle of the Atlantic Frozen Ocean. If only they had enough life jackets and boats and destroy their arrogance and ego that Titanic will never sink, lives would have been saved there were many people who went back to the ship to save lives. There were rumours too that another ship was nearby Titanic but signal did not went till morning. One frozen night changed everything. The book was a interesting read

I guess that’s the beauty of fiction. We can peel away as many layers as we want and see it from different perspectives.

I haven't read the book. But even while watching the movie, I wanted to bang the heads of officials making stupid decisions, due to which the ship sank and so many people died.

Not having enough lifeboats was a recipe for disaster from the start. If they thought the ship is unsinkable they won't have put any lifeboats at all. Of course it can sink. They just didn't put enough lifeboats to give first class passengers a better view. They didn't even have enough lifejackets so according to them, the people who can't swim can just go fuck themselves.

They also didn't fill the lifeboats to their full occupancy, because Lightoller misunderstood Smith's command of "women and children first" to "women and children only". This is at least understandable considering it was a panic situation and nobody was in their right minds.

Also the lookouts getting distracted by Jack and Rose and not seeing the iceberg, which I know didn't happen in real. There's one blunder after another which caused the deaths of so many people. At least people learnt a big lesson by this disaster and from then on sufficient lifeboats were put on every ship.

The only time I’ll consider re-watching Titanic is if this version ever gets released. 😆

Oh yeah. A cat would also fit in the raft along with Jack.😆

Would you watch a version where Jack is SRK?😆

Was your theater also empty? I was thinking of going again, but in my city they removed the movie in just one week, because very less people were showing up.
