They would also likely replace Suniel Shetty with a new actor, someone from Kartik's generation like Sunny Singh or Rajkumar Rao. Otherwise Kartik would look out of place with two oldies Suniel and Paresh.

Paresh Rawal would be kept because Baburao is obviously the real hero of the franchise, the most iconic character and someone who is irreplaceable (atleast more than Akshay as Raju and Suneil as Shyam). Also Baburao anyway had a considerable age difference with Raju and Shyam, so even if they replace Akshay and Suneil with younger actors, the character dynamics would remain the same.

That's the only way a Hera Pheri 3 with Kartik replacing Akshay as Raju CAN work, if they also replace Shyam. But the trio is iconic, audience won't like this replacement. Hera Pheri is a classic, much more memorable than movies like Bhool Bhulaiyaa or Dhamaal, where audience was okay with a reboot with new characters and actors. Characters from those movies were not iconic like HP.

Also a Hera Pheri 3 won't be same without Neeraj Vohra as the writer. Priyadarshan too lost his mojo long ago even if the producers get him to direct. The sequel would be completely on the shoulders of Paresh Rawal.

point being..these stars have lost their minds..they ask insane prices and they think no one can replace them but results state otherwise..and i am sure here it would again be the same case..akshay has given 4 flops in a row in a single year..clearly script is not something he looks upto..of course if he asks same price after delivering massive duds back to back..he will get replaced..and i am glad they are not being treated as Gods anymore..high time

Welcome Back wasn't even a clean Hit. It was a Semi-Hit while the original film was a Super Hit. Welcome was a much bigger success than Welcome Back, when usually in Bollywood sequels do much better business than the original movie because of franchise value.

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 was a bigger hit than the original film, but you can't compare this or Welcome Back to Hera Pheri series. I bet you won't even remember Akshay's character name in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 1, or would have to jog your memory to recall it. Same with Welcome, his character wasn't memorable. But everyone knows Akshay's character name in Hera Pheri films is Raju.

Raju-Shyam-Baburao are iconic like Jai-Veeru or Raj-Simran. Replacing Akshay as Raju in Hera Pheri 3 is like replacing SRK as Raj in DDLJ 2 or replacing Sanjay Dutt as Munna in Munna Bhai 3.

Hera Pheri 3 can still do good business because of franchise value, just like Welcome Back and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2. But more chances are it won't because of the characters being iconic and irreplaceable.

Im ok with the replacements. Y’all need to move on and stop holding on to the same stars for decades. They old now. Move on. Literally no one wants to see Akshay anymore in any capacity.

Ajay is himself son of an action director turned producer.

He is an industry kid. Not an outsider.

He surely benefited from dating girls from more famous families like Kapoors and Mukherjees though. Smart man always chose women who seemed beyond his league. Raveena, Karishma and Kajol fighting for him and link up to even Tabu really gave him lot of PR in 90s. Despite his flops and patchy BO record then.

Cannot label Ajay a climber though he too is somewhat of a gold digger and trapped women beyond his league which did boost his profile. Later he turned into 'any digger' given how he has used every newbie in town including Kangana.

LMAO was this a reverse psychology stunt by Akshay?😛

His films haven't been doing well, and there has been negative buzz around him like never before.

He is perhaps at a very low point in his career, and this time age is also NOT in his favor.

Maybe he pulled this stunt so that there could be some positive buzz around him.😆

Frankly, people are more worried because they care about this franchise and not just about Akshay.

If I remember correctly, he moved out of Hera Pheri 3 previously too and then it was announced with Abhishek and John (I think?). Then it was shelved, and then it was revived again when he came back to the franchise. And now he has left again.

He is only ruining his own legacy and also the legacy of the franchise.

Things like these don't age well with time, and he will always be remembered for turning this franchise to dust.

Unless it actually works with Karthik (which is highly unlikely unless it's a complete reboot of the franchise).

Kartik is the most logical choice here. Plus he’s so hot.

I am no KA fan, I have just seen 1 movie of his that is BB2 and yes he is no great but he isn't that bad.

Also he is liked by kids and Mummy wali generation (nothing derogatory just bata rahi hoon ) mein too

Fact is anyone in the Entertainment Industry and any Entertainment field atleast in India can't be naive and saint if they become a big name bcoz how the screwed the Industry is.

Akshay just wants money and the way this yr went by he is still not ready to lower his fees or think about adjusting with the profits won't make him the 1st choice unlike Lockdown se pehle ke days.

These stars huge fees also is making BW not delivering big hits due to high Budget.

KA comes with less fees and nowadays in news

Jese he his next movie tanks he too won't be that much mentioned

Right now BW ka bura haal hain and we like it nor BB2 came with a lot of negativity with people not liking KA replacing AK but it still did wonders.

I don't think it will actually make a difference if Kartik is doing this one, if this clicked with the audience it won't matter who replaced who.

Also Sequels doesn't always works in favour and make the Sequel hit bcoz of its brand name.

Akshay should definitely lower his fees, completely agree with this. However, karthik is in no way comparable to Akshay. Akshay has 30 years in the industry, he’s well established, and has a long list of hits to his credits. He’s given 4 back to back disasters and needs a hit, but if he never has another hit he’ll be in limbo for a few years before he transitions into father or character roles. Karthik on the other hand is fairly new and in no way established enough where he can have a few back to back flops and still remain in the big leagues. Unless he marries Pashmina, or another industry daughter, and forever connects himself to Bollywood.
