On one hand, y'all say that it's just dad's and uncle's looking out for their kids and nieces, which is one of their fundamental birthrights. On the other hand, you also wanna argue that those same people are only acting as per "audience" demands. If that's not wanting to have your cake and eat it too, I don't know what is. 😛

I’m wondering why no one watched Vidyuts film. Forget the film . Why did the trailer go unnoticed. My hypothesis is he’s not very good. But I doubt Vidyut would accept it.

@bold: but weren't they critically acclaimed movies? There are plenty of movies in parallel cinema that don't do well in the box office but are still held in high regard for their cinematography and quality content. Shahid's Haider was a treat to watch for example, with the entire ensemble knocking it out of the park, esp. Tabu. but I believe it didn't do well in the box office cuz it's not everyone's cup of tea. I've watched a few Rajkumar movies and he delivers top notch performances most of the time ... the guy is like a shapeshifter who eases into any character effortlessly. If producers/directors trust him to deliver quality work, it's because he has a body of work that speaks for him -- not because he is "privileged."

But sure... I can see why fans of star kids are so frustrated and are coming up with all these diabolical theories to discredit outsiders like him. Tit for tat all you want but at least make it logically sound.

But didn't we all watch Kartik Aryan's film, Bhool Bhulaiya? He's an outsider last I checked.

Picking on outsiders who didn't do well to somehow "prove" that people complaining about nepotism aren't supporting outsiders comes across as confirmation bias to me .... convenient cop out in other words.

Again. I ask. Why the fcuk should I care if movie producers go bankrupt?! I don’t care what happens to them. I watch movies for entertainment. I like RR’s movies and clearly many others do too that’s why he keeps doing them. This is the digital era. You’re not just dependent on your local audience, anymore. People watch movies from all around the world. Box office status is a dying phenomenon.

Rajkumar Rao gets movies because there are certain movies which are made by production houses for

1. Pure art value.

2. Festival wins etc. which increases their overall cred in international financing

3. They can include those losses in taxes.

So all those whining about Rajkumar's privilege should understand those movies are not being made with box office success in mind.

I've supported nepokids a lot of times and mentioned the fact the pure commercial value they bring can be used to support actual art. Problem with the likes of Alia and KJo is that

1. They like to pretend they're the greatest artists.

2. If they don't bring art value, they have to bring money.

When they bring neither and keep getting projects, it's something to talk about.

3. (ETA 1) KJo and his ilk flood the market with mediocrity and drown out any actual art while someone like Sidharth Roy Kapoor actually puts money in movies like Yeh Ballet which I'm gonna go out on a limb and bet few have watched. So balance.

ETA 2. Money is important. So is art. If you think humanity came this far based only on money, think again. Leonardo DaVinci based many of his scientific investigations on art he didn't get paid for.

Here's an image by that artist who nobody paid. The motion of the arm. Next time you have reason to visit a doctor, you can thank Ol' Leo.

While ppl cry here for Nepo Kids who don't even do that much no.of films.

And what is that supposed to mean? Because one producer doesn’t repeat you in their films, you are suddenly not deserving of accolades despite being an amazing actor? Who even remembers producers? What do they do other than spend money? Why should I care about their welfare? Kill. Me. Now

An that’s all of it in a nutshell. Karthik is very good at what he does so he succeeds. Vidyut is awful so he doesn’t. I just can’t listen to anyone say it’s more complicated than that especially if they themselves don’t watch this guys movies

but don't you see how flawed your reasoning is? Not every talented person is successful and not every successful person is talented.

You're really gonna tell me that X sucks and that's why they're not successful, and Y does not suck and that's why they're successful? Seriously? 😛

When you concentrate on people/outsiders who made it past the "wringer" (0.00001% of the group) and overlook the large majority who did not make it because of their lack of visibility and influence (and no, it's not *only* because of lack of talent), it is statistically and logically ignorant. So, that again is an incorrect conclusion to make.

For something to reflect reality, you have to include the full picture in your analysis. You can't just pick convenient "winners" of the lot who support your opinion and try to pass it off as their reality.

Secondly, it shows that you'd rather believe in a skewed, oversimplified reality that supports your prior beliefs/opinions. Cuz you're not acknowledging the "lesser" people's voice in the conversation. You'd rather pretend that their side of the story doesn't exist and that it's a one dimensional world where they just happen to "suck". 😼

Just admit that you don't care for whatever reasons -- at least that's believable and saves you all the backflips.

don't bother if that got too convoluted, I just read my own post and had trouble absorbing it myself. 😵

Rajkumar brings art. Tiger Shroff and Alia bring money. Most nepokids bring neither and keep getting movies.
