Dangal was a hit down in South also even without much promotions. Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Shahrukh Khan are well recognised names in South India too just like Amitabh Bacchan was and still is a big name in South too. They or their movies may not have big market but they are well known actors all over India. These actors never paid attention to south Indian audiences before and they started to pay attention to this section of audiences now.

This is the first time. But to be fair around the time of Dangal Rajmouli wasn’t the pan Indian phenomenon that he is now.

While I agree that he is looking for support from south, specifically Rajmouli, I don’t think he just called them up a few weeks ago and they all agreed. He’s been going down south and interacting with their stars and media for at least a year now. Long before the Pushpa and RRR craze up north. Let’s not forget also that Aamir is someone with incredible filmography not just as an actor but also a producer. I’m willing to bet all these guys who agreed to watch LSC didn’t just do Aamir Khan the star a favor but also Aamir Khan the producer of Dangal and Lagaan. Aamir has credibility as an artist and this isn’t strictly transactional meeting. It’s a gathering of artists who respect each other’s work.

nobody is questioning his filmography or the fact that they like his work , but just calling the happening directors of the moment was probably not the way to go, given he has been interacting he could have easily invited few more he knows if its was an artists excahnge

it is transactional in a way, aamir publicised RRR a few months and rajamouli will do it just as he is doing for brahmastra

transactional doesnt rule out respecting the others work but definetly it is not purely artistic exchange

So this is the new trend in bollywood, use the south stars and directors to promote the movies, brahmastra team are using rajmouli to promote the film and here aamir has invited rajmouli and other South stars to see the first preview of his film
