Has anyone seen it? Back then or now it's on Netflix?

This movie is a work of art, and heart-wrenching too. Not going to be everyone's cup of tea because it's serious, slow, and tackles the theme of homosexuality, but for me, it's one of the most beautiful, poignant movies I've watched.

Sta-crossed lovers who can't be together because of societal and external circumstances.

Sounds familiar? But this common trope is explored with so much sensitivity and nuances here.

it's the treatment, folks.

I watched it with my friends in the college film society and my friend was weeping bucketful of tears. As a 20-year-old, I didn't have much experience in relationships and though I found the film beautiful, it was on Friday when I watched it on Netflix did I cry like a baby too.

I remember what my friend said, "They loved each other."

And it's true, they did. Two personalities were so different from each other, and one of them wanted to follow his heart, but the other couldn't. That's what makes it so sad.

Do watch it guys, but disclaimer -- keep tissues handy.

Beautiful post Minty❤️. One of my favourite movies. The movie stays with you even after it's over. The story of Ennis and Jack so poignant. Never expected Jack's death, that was unexpected. I still remember the scene where Ennis holds Jack's shirt and cries. Great execution and Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal just awesome.

Brokeback Mountain is a milestone film culturally, I suppose. But I don't think it's aged very well. God's Own Country is a much better film in a similar setting. Of course, it doesn't come close to BBM on technical considerations. Ang Lee is a genius there.

Also, some much better queer stories, both visually and story wise

I watched it back in 2006 and the South was up in arms about banning the film. How things have changed since then. For the better. In some ways anyway

Portrait of Lady on Fire is a masterpiece. The cinematography by Claire Mathon is just out of world.

Ammonite is good too.

I am not big on Ammonite, but it's fantastic performances by Winslet and Saoirse. And in terms of cinematography, CMBYN is the obvious mention.

Just remembered, Happy together is also a fantastic film.

It's a good movie, but highly overrated amongst the gay circle (or shall I say, those who are ignorant about LGBT movies). Out in the Dark is a much better movie, and probably the best gay themed movie I can think of. Weekend and Free Fall are just as good, and hardly anyone has heard of them.

Here is the full movie if anyone is interested.

Also the short story on which BBM was based was so much better at capturing the nuance and subtlety of the relationship.

Watched this movie a long time ago. Never been fond of LGBT themes but still it's heartbreaking to see the story of two individuals who can't express their feelings in front of the world and can't live together.
