The Kashmiri Pandit massacre and exodus have unfortunately been buried in Indian history. I wholly support sharing the gruesome truth so that everyone knows about this dark tragedy.
I was skeptical of the film because of some of the right-wing crazies in my family who attended early screenings and praised it. But some more balanced friends and family have appreciated the film and said the performances and direction are better than Tashkent files. Some of the scenes are copy-pasted from real stories at the time. So while it is true the director has an agenda, you cannot claim the film obfuscates facts. I hope to watch it myself someday when it comes to streaming.
That being said I dislike the fact that the team met with Modi who is a divisive figure. I feel that if filmmakers want their work to be appreciated objectively and people to universally accept the truths - they must avoid alliances with politicians in general, especially divisive ones. I dislike how media and politics are so intertwined across the world - both on the left and the right.
