DP did a great job at playing her role, but I did not like her character I don't know why 😔 Sid's character was awful too. Mr. Lambu ji's character was ok but annoying at times because he was not a good partner sometimes.

Yeah Alisha was dealing with a lot of complexities and personality disorders so it’s a little difficult to connect with her or like her. Sid was just presented as a plot device who was being used by the director to get the plot ahead. Kabhi he was getting bajaoed by his business partner Jitesh (?) toh kbhi by the girls.
But what was overbearing for me was the extensive usage of the F words. I mean she even speaks to her dad like that. Regardless of how bad the relationship happens to be, do desi children use 4 lettered words in front of their parents?

Forget using F word in front of parents. I was watching Piku with my mom once and she thought the way DP was speaking to her AB was so disrespectful. She kept asking "how can she speak to him in this tone?" 😆
This review makes me believe that many dont even know how anxiety feels like ? yes her boyfriend might lose job, her studio might get closed , there are more than enough reasons for a person suffering from General anxiety disorder . How can a normal person ever understand how anxious brain operates? What is normal for everyone looks like a mountain for an anxious person so by calling her control freak you are basically discrediting people who suffer from anxiety on day to day basis . And one has to be kidding to say that she should have known why her mom died or investigated .. she was a kid and merely thinking about the moment her mother died gives her PTSD and such ppl try to avoid thinking about it rather going on investigating about it .
Also anxiety and depression don’t need a trigger point. It’s like saying why is this guy with a successful career and everything practically served on a platter complaining about depression? Depression can also be completely a physical problem just like Cancer etc which doesn’t need anything to get triggered.
Absolutely snoozefest movie and one can easily give this movie a miss. The ending...what was even that? This movie should have been named F%#k Gehraiyaan cuz that word was used that many times in the movie.

Never said her issues should have resolved if she was taking therapy. But the issue isn’t even touched in the film. Popping pills isn’t the first solution.Talking is, analysing is, getting to the layers is. Anti anxiety pills to koi MBBS dr bhi de sakta hai yaar. Why do we need counsellors or psychologists then. The issue of her mom is made irrelevant towards the end. In a way even Naseer did wrong by forcing his wife to live in a place where she didn’t want to. But towards the end he is basically whitewashed. It’s just a movie that says its ok to behave in a messed up way which is NOT. Even if I consider that Alisha realised her mistake towards the end, that how she messed up stuff , she only feels bad for herself. Self pity! Not for her cousin, not for her ex bf. She doesn’t even try to keep contact with Tia telling her the truth about her and Zain is a far off thing. She forgives herself after Naseer tells her that moving in is the best option. Deeming your toxicity as ok in the name of generational trauma is not ok. My parents didnt do it right so its ok for me to do worse! ? I dont agree with this mentality .
Spoiler Alert
Why should her anxiety issue be touched in that much detail to show even the treatment procedures ?The movie isnt about that. Its one of the issues she has , doesn't mean movie has to be centered around her treatment. Many in India still dont go for therapy for multitude of reasons. So this argument to diss the movie feels like out of line to me. Naseer's character must have wanted to save their marriage or another option was to leave the wife. May be he chose the later option. He went against her will ofc but no where there is whitewashing of the characters like you mentioned, we do feel sorry for the situation they all have landed up but no where we feel empathy coz we know they all messed up big time. Another thing about Alisha should have told Tia doesn't make sense at that juncture. What good would it have done to anyone? Just to satisfy the moral compass ? Even Tia was selfish to hide such big secret and only came out in open when it felt convenient to her . Even with her ex bf , with or without zain that relationship had no future. Zain just was a catalyst to end it earlier. So why exactly should see feel sorry for ex bf here . I dont get it. Yes, moving on indeed was the best option. She did a mistake doesn't mean she needs to ruin her life for that mistake. Thats exactly what her mom was unable to do .
I'm still trying to connect the dots between Kapoor Sons—an emotionally layered, brilliantly directed family drama—and Gehraiyaan—a film that...
