"Pushpa" Hindi version is making much bigger noise than its Telugu version not just in domestic market but even in International market. As per recent reports "Pushpa" hindi rights were sold to neighboring country "Nepal" for mre 2 Lakhs INR. Yes you heard it right just 2 Lakhs INR, no one from south expected that movie would run first being South Dubbed movie, another Corona but as per final gross collection reports the movie grossed more than 10 Crores INR in Nepal. This would be biggest Hit in terms of ROI for the distributors of Nepal. The humongous ROI just didn't stop at Nepal, even within India Tier 3 towns are still running packed for Pushpa. The exhibitors who had closed doors for more than 2 years due to Covid finally got some relief with Puspha.
What does that mean for the Bollywood in future ?
Well, the story had begun much much earlier....
SET MAX was first Indian satellite television who were airing Hindi Dubbed south Indian movies in early 2000s. Viewers used to ridicule OTT gravity defying action scenes, people used to watch those movies just for fun as it was SO BAD, IT FELT GOOD to watch those movies as guilty pleasure. Slowly, South Industry comprising of Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada started chaining their stories as per need of audience. From Malasa to action dramas, social issues to Korean borrowed romances, everything was being made. While Bollywood was basking some same old musical romance dramas. When they ran out of ideas then Even they started remaking South hits from Tere Naam to Wanted. Luckily those movies worked.
Now Hindi audience got to know about remakes. They started searching for the originals like WANTED => POKKIRI and they found out ORIGINAL WAS MUCH BETTER than the remake ones. Slowly more TV Channels started showing more and more hindi dubbed South Indian movies. While Bollywood too started making more and more south remakes instead of investing upon new kind of good stories.
The biggest nail in the coffin of Bollywood was advent of NetFlix and other OTT platforms who were giving chance for Hindi audience to get taste of World Cinema with the click of the button at their home with a click of a button. Corona in 2019 was another major reason which exponentially contributed for the same. Within a span ot just 2 years, taste of Indian audience had changed. They have watched almost all popular South Indian movies from Telugu to Malayalam. "Babhubali", "KGF" had already lit the fire before pandemic. Now with these OTT Platforms it had become wildfire.
Post second wave of Covid none of the Bollywood movies expect Sooryavanshi made any significant collection at the Bollywood box office. Despite getting good reviews from the critics and audience movies like 83, Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui failed. We all knew the fate of movies like Bunty aur Babli 2 or Velle which had nothing new to offer.
So has Bollywood come to an end now ?
The recent postponement of many Bollywood release like "Jersy" can be indication for the same.
Are producers now afraid to release Bollywood movie ?
They claim it is due to Covid. But in same Covid time "Pushpa" is making huge numbers.
And mind you "Pushpa" is not some Great movie like "Babhubaali". It had nothing out of ordinary, but still people are flocking to theaters, even on OTT it is showing great numbers as per Amazon Prime it is Top trending movie at the moment.
The major reason which had brought down Bollywood on its knees is because of its own arrogance, nepotism, drugs involvement, superiority complex and LACK OF GOOD CONTENT in their movies.
And unfortunately, it looks like they are not going to learn anytime soon. Look at today's bollywood so called actors, their arrogance and compare it to legends like "Kamal Hasan" , "Rajani Sir" or even these days stars like "Allu Arjun", "Prabhas", "Surya", "Vijay", the way they talk and behave in public is much much humble than these "hopeless" star kids of Bollywood.
What do you think is Bollywood going to end soon ?
This is SharmaJiKaLadka ... and This is MY THOUGHT !
