2. They have all been doing fewer films and putting all their eggs in one basket. As opposed to the older generation who'd do more films and learn their craft faster. And there's bound to be at least 1 or 2 hits among the 5 or 6 released in a year. The older actors like the Khans can get away with it but not a newbie. But other than Akshay Kumar none of the actors are releasing too many films a year. That's the new norm. I've seen Anil Kapoor being puzzled at the way his children are handling their career and being selective. He and his contemporaries have rushed from set to set and making hay while the sun shines.

3.With fewer films being released each year they have to keep the public's attention via ads(leading to audience getting tired of seeing them on TV all the time) or link-ups or other PR cooked up gimmicks which could backfire.

Yeah I get why older actors do fewer movies now (if anything Akshay should do it too) but the younger ones should be working all the time and delivering lots of movies. that's the way it usually works and they improve their craft that way & develop.

These new actresses are already acting like they are so special that they can take breaks. And all the social media bs from them with their annoying PR is just too much.

In terms of appearance they look like clones of each other while 90s-2000s actresses were very diverse

True that's possible but it's more due to lack of better options. Younger people will obviously naturally relate to the new generation more and still somehow make them popular.

If you made a documentary on the Red Hot Chili Peppers and it was bland, would that be irony?

It is nostalgia here.

I remember Deepika was called woody by Prahlad Kakkar and 'ordinary looking' by Shobhaa De. Today she is the top female star.

Alia was bashed all the time on this forum when she debuted in 2012. She is a top star now.

Newcomers take time to grow on you as audience.

It happens every few decades as people like older stars more and find new stars or 'not upto the mark'.

Anushka was also criticised and joked of in RNBDJ with people claiming SRK looks better with Rani or Kajol. Even JTHJ had people missing someone like Rani or Kajol instead of Katrina opposite SRK.

The nepotism thing is exaggerated only now. Lot of newbies in 90s were all nepo kids. Kajol, Tabu, Karishma, Rani, Raveena, Pratibha Sinha were nepo kids.

Every 10-20 years we have deluge of star kids, producer/director kids enter industry in hordes. It is not a recent phenomenon.

The only thing today's actors can be criticised for is looking sort of alike with similar hair styles, same gym bodies, plastic surgery fixed faces and duck lips, lightened skin.

They are definitely not as different and unique apart from each other as say, Sonali, Shilpa, Ash, Sush, Karishma, Tabu, Raveena, Kajol, Juhi, Rani, Kareena, Preity, Amrita, Deepika, Sonam etc were, in terms of looks, personality or style.

Otherwise I do not think today's girls lack charisma or screen presence or talent. Kiara Advani specifically has a very good screen presence and is quite likeable onscreen. Better than those Kimi Katkars, Anita Rajs, Nagmas of 80s and 90s.

Besides Sara & Kiara, there is no-one & they’re all the sameee!! I had hopes from Sayami Kher & Tara Sutaria but the latter is dumb af & doesn’t have the talent, just an overly done pretty face, Sayami has that exotic beauty but seems to be not been keen/not getting big commercial offers. So I feel it’ll be Aloo, Sara & Kiara. I love Alaya F too! I really hope she makes it big.

More than bland, they have poor acting skills, no voice modulation and no screen presence. They all look the same and I can hardly recognise who is who. All I know for sure is there are many Kiara's in BW😆

Alaya is the one I'm rooting for too. She's smart and knows her privilege.

Rest all look and dress the same.

True but they all know their privilege unless they’re blithering idiots, they do. Not everyone wants to accept it though. I like Alaya a lot, more than Sara who has a wayyy more curated public profile, so to speak! I hope Alaya doesn’t go the same way.

Yes. Alaya has clearly accepted hers and speaks well even otherwise. Plus she isn't part of any clique so that helps. Ananya, Shanaya, etc look speak and dress so similar that I can't differentiate. Even tara. Maybe it's a dharma thing.

Did you watch alaya ka music video? So cute .
