It's not about Ancient India or modern India.. I'm not Indian and Hindi is not my language but I have this problem with everyone having a superiority complex that they can speak in English and their native language is garbage.. This obsession with English is only in the Sub continent.. I have traveled half of the world and every country keeps their language a priority, they're not crazy about English.. I have only found this in Bollywood where actors have lived, studied, spent all their life in India but they can't speak Hindi properly and proudly say my Hindi isnt good.. Sorry but that's just pretentious behavior for me..

Also I meant in terms of acting.. Salman Khan is a superstar but he is not an actor.. Allu Arjun is miles ahead of him in terms of acting..

I don't know about north states but south states take pride in talking in their mother tongue...that doesn't mean they are not educated..they have high literacy than north but talking in own language is pride for most of the people

Because these people have inferiority complex. And those who don’t are put down by those that do. It’s awful how actresses like Kangana, Urvashi, Rakhi Sawant etc. were made fun of for not speaking English properly by those that cannot even string along two sentences together in any language

This is nothing to gloat about? Am I missing something

awww...he is so cute😆...He is speaking pretty well....

I didn't get it...so Salman cannot come close to him in what...acting or stardom?? Acting I can say probably yes even without watching any of his movies....lol..but stardom??

Personally...I don't care what language people speak in ...as long as I understand it.....I never associate any pride with any language...I just consider it a means of communication....let people speak in whatever they are comfortable with...

Nobody is having any superiority complex over anyone. It's all about comfort. If Janhvi, Kareena, Alia and Vaani have talked in English all their lives at home, at school, at college, with friends and family, obviously they will be most comfortable with English in public. So what's the shame in speaking English. They can express the best in English. So let them be please. Don't guilt trip them into something they should not feel guilty about. It is absolutely not necessary that you need to speak Hindi in real life even when you are doing Hindi movies.

Meant acting only..

Thanks Chameli, absolutely nothing to be boasting about..

And looking at replies in this thread I can already tell why people don't speak Hindi.. the justifications being provided are so absurd.. No offence..

Agreed....as long as you are not looking down on another language...kya fark padta hai....kya language bol rahe ho.....haan agar kissi ne superiority complex dikhaya....then they deserve shuddh Hindi wali gaaliyan..🥳😆

North is opposite. Most in North, look down upon others who are speaking local native language. Be it Hindi, or Gujarati or any other regional language. North walon ko English jhadne mein show off lagta hai. And who doesn’t like to show off that they are smarter than others. English Medium movie has dialogue by Irrfan Khan that English in this country is Status. Bar for education.

BW actors sure love to take pride in not knowing Hindi when their bread and butter is Hindi. Especially this new gen.

I think the assumption that it is shame that prevents actors from speaking Hindi is wrong.

Many actors, or shall I say most?, have switched to speaking English in their day to day lives. So everything from lovey dovey dialogues to dinner conversation to fights are all conducted in English. Thus they ARE most comfortable in that language.

So given a chance it would be natural to slip into the language that is easiest to express themselves.

Hindi by itself is a recent language that replaced and continues to replace many regional languages. Ab market mein Angrezi aa gayi use replace karne.

I take pride in my Hindi, but if you give me a rulebook with English and Hindi text I'll go for the English one without batting an eyelid. Because I can read and grasp that faster and easily.

The biggest irony is that your post itself is written in Angrezi 🤣 Yeh poora forum, dedicated to Hindi/Urdu film industry, runs on Angrezi. It's rare to find Hindi ki vaartalaap here.

End of the day its the content that matters. Language is just a medium.
