Hated the movie with a passion. But have never seen Aish look more beautiful in a film.
I still think she should have married Salman in that movie.Originally posted by: FingerFetish

That’s exactly why I hate the second half of the movie. I couldn’t stomach her fathers regressive mentality. He literally forced her to marry Ajay even when she slit her wrist in depression. Then we had the typical “stay with your husband because marriage is above all” theme shoved down our throats.
I mean I did appreciate Ajay's character for trying to unite his wife with her lover, people rarely do that, but Nandini fell in love with Sameer, and as you said she was literally forced to marry Vanraj by her father, and even Sameer was emotionally blackmailed into leaving her, that's so cruel I felt so bad for Salman at the end. I can never ever understand/accept things like forced marriages in the first place.Originally posted by: FingerFetish

So many years have passed since HDDS!
Aishwarya should have posted pictures with the heroes of the movie, its more than 2 decades. All are mature and moved on. If not solo then the trio together pic or some whole cast picture.
This is inviting speculation.

I mean Ajay was a nice guy but I didn’t like the way he would emotionally manipulate her as well. Sure, thanks for your help but don’t make me feel like shit about it either.
Also, I hate that this movie somehow justifies her fathers actions by turning the ‘forced marriage’ into something positive. Instead of highlighting how much of an asshole her father was, SLB turned him into a hero by implying that ‘YoUr pAreNts kNow wHatS bEst fOr yOu’. Had I been the director, I would have made the character choke on his vocal chords 😆
That's why I have never ever taken SLB seriously 😆. People need to stop glorifying things like forced marriages in movies, such things in real life are much more different and far from hunky dory, as they are shown to be in these films 😵Originally posted by: FingerFetish

Happy to see people in this thread calling out the problematic aspects about the message this movie sends off.
Because every year I am used to seeing threads about how Nandini and Vanraj are a match made in heaven and TURU LAB while Nandini-Sameer is just infatuation/attraction 😡 Honestly I think most people do so because it is cool to hate on Selmon Bhai, because Selmon sucks and his acting sucks and his crying scene is a joke... And yea all of that is true btw🤔 but that should not stop people from seeing how unfair the film's ending was to Sameer and Nandini.. 😡
I know why the makers went for the ending they went with, because obviously as far as Indian sanskaar goes, once you tie mangalsutra around your neck your Pati is your parmeshwar.. and Indian heroine choosing exlover Vs legal husband at the end of the film???😲 Tauba Tauba 😳
What the film doesn't properly address is the terrible things Nandini's father did, forcing his daughter to marry a complete stranger she doesn't want to marry and is not in love with. Vanraj and Nandini don't share a single word before marriage and on the wedding night he is putting moves on her because he is thickheaded and has no sense about her discomfort.🤢 Can you imagine how torturous this would be for any woman??
Yeah Vanraj at heart is a good guy, but his LOVE for Nandini is glorified by too many people as I have seen in the online community/ among BW lovers. Let's be honest, Vanraj mainly fell for her LOOKS, and decided to marry her without making any effort of getting to know her personally. Atleast Sameer got to see a lot of Nandini's "nakchadhi" side and there is a prelude of interactions between them before they get romantically involved. So IDK why Vanraj is drunk crying so much when Nandini is on the cusp of uniting with Sameer again.
I dont know but it makes sense to me. I always thought that his maturity of being ready to let her go even though it hurt him was what changed her mind. For me, myself, Vanraj was the right choice though I will agree in real life one huge fight and you will immediately doubt if you chose the right guy. Maybe the guy who was crying in church was a better option 🤣 Should have left him when I had the chance kind of thing but it would have been the same if she chose the other guy too 🤣
That one line of chahe jo maang lo sab tumhara hain - for me is the one line that marriage is all about and I have a husband who is old school and this has been the underlying theme in our marriage, the one thing that my husband says all the time. So that line touches me emotionally.
