Mastani was beautiful, no doubt but that never meant Bajirao and hers was a love marriage... the film has played with historic facts which makes you think their's was a love story... it was a political deal.

Also he never left Kashibai for Mastani... either take the film as a piece of fiction or follow the historical facts😃

Mastani was miscast. She was supposed to be extremely beautiful.

PC surely was the best thing in that bland movie but if we look at the facts and history then Kashi wasn't particularly attractive and also suffered from Arthritis so yes she was a miscast but then can you expect anything better from Bollywood? Here glamour and commercial viability comes before authentic storytelling. SLB or any director know what people love and what will sell, they are business men before artists

Just like how if Bollywood ever ends up making Mahabharat they will white wash Draupadi and Krishna even though we all know they were dark skinned.

I personally would have loved had they stayed true to the history and invested more time and money on telling the story instead of focusing on making the shallow "Magnum opus".. Even Deepika was a miscast as Mastani.

Mastani was bland....deepika looked way beautiful in Ram leela and OSO

and no PC was not miscast.... and if she was..then thank god she was in the movie....mastaani's bland act was torturous...kaashi made up!

I read it again after I noticed the dp & username of the TM 😆

I don't understand what problems Aish fans have with Deepu. It's not like Deepu pulled some strings & got Aish kicked out of BM or PV. Aish's own denials put them on hold & SLB just moved on & made them with the most suitable replacement he could find.

And all these, when Deepu no longer is even relevant to SLB ventures.

No I think her acting was very good and she looked right for the role too...

I like Deepika but got to admit that if anything it's her who was miscast in BM when it came to looks... she doesn't look like a girl with Arab/Turkish ancestry in any way at all... Deepika has always had a very typical south/middle Indian face and look, hence all the excessive whitening and other adjustments for this film lmao...

But what to do, the role required someone beautiful as well as a good actress and dancer, and SLB doesn't take "B-listers" or debutantes (unless of course if they're nepo kids 😊), so who's left?

Yeah. Hilarious. Even more so when you consider PC's skin color. She is dusky. Even DP is. They just lightened her skin in BM.

Sad that conventional beauty in India is still dictated by the color of one's skin.
