Was Priyanka miscast as Kashi Bai?

She acted brilliantly. She infact overshadowed Deepika with her powerful role and performance but the character was not supposed to be a beautiful woman. Kashi Bai was a dark looking average unattractive wife of Bajirao. Thats why Bajirao fell in love with Mastani's beauty. It is hard to believe Bajirao left Priyanka's Kashi for Deepika's Mastani.

Where did you read that Kashi Bai was unattractive?

I think she was the perfect fit and no where it was mentioned that she was ugly .. the whole Bajirao Mastani was some intense love story narrative was false .. Bajirao married Mastani for some political reason and not cos he fell madly in love with her or something ..

Not sure if Kashi Bai was unattractive, but studies have shown while physical attractiveness is imp to men and women, most go for partners who're attractive enough and stay away (with re: marriage) from those who're considered too attractive. Because both positive and negative qualities are automatically assigned by the subconscious to attractive people.

To put it in crass terms, a man might want to have a sexual relationship with a very attractive woman but not necessarily marry her.

Please, not at all. Priyanka was brilliant as Kashibai. Very convincing.

I feel in Bajirao Mastaani, everyone fit in their characters beautifully. At least as far as looks are concerned. Along with that, Priyanka's Kashibai was a well written character & Priyanka did full justice to that. From no angle she was a "miscast".

Also, SLB's Bajirao Mastaani was not historically very accurate. I don't know where did you read that Kashibai was an "unattractive" woman, but the real Bajirao was not head over heels in love with Mastaani like SLB depicted. Bajirao-Mastaani's marriage was mostly a case of political alliance, where I doubt that the looks of the either women played any part.

Yes, if someone like Priyanka was cast as Kashi Bai, SLB needed to cast someone *more* beautiful than her as Mastani.😆

PC was the ONLY good thing in Bajirao Mastani and you're asking if she was a miscast😭

I liked her in the film but the role was supposed to be less attractive than Mastani. Priyanka was Miss World. Was it even convincing that Bajirao left her for Mastani? This role required Vidya or Rani to be convincing.

Deepika looked more attractive than Priyanka in the MOVIE (IMO) so yeah it does make sense.
