I am a DP fan but can't agree more on this. Aishwarya's waist in nimbooda 😳. Aish oozes femininity when she dances while Deepika is stiff. Aish would have looked better for sure and her dialogue delivery is better than Deepika.

I feel DP has this misconception (don't know whether SLB has played any part in it) that royal & elegant / graceful means emotionless. Usually she is a fair to good actress...but in Padmavaat & Bajirao Mastaani she was totally stone faced. Even Ram Leela was SLB movie & however pukeworthy the movie was, Deepika was emotive there. But as Padmavati & Mastaani...it was as if... she is determined not to show any emotion....as if nothing bothers her.....but then she has teary eyes in almost every scene 🤦🏻 So it's not like she is trying to portray strong characters.... I never understood why did she choose to act so weirdly in those 2 movies where as in other movies she is mostly average to good.

As for dance.... I found only Mohe Rang Do Laal lackluster. She is not comfortable in classical dance and it's visible there. But I think she pulled off Deewani Mastani & Ghoomar pretty well.

Big fan of Deepu's but Ash's HDDCS, Devdas, Taal and Chokher Bali/Raicoat alone trump DP's filmography.

Deepika is the superior actor but Ash in the hands of a director who knows how to present her is dynamite

Aishwarya has better filmography HDDCH,Devdas,Raincoat,Jodha Akbar,Chokerbali,Taal,Guru and also tamil film Kandukondain Kandukondain are great films

For comparison I always see lahu muh lag gya vs dholi taro Dhol baaje and the postures of heroine.

But u nailed the explanation about BM and Padmavat

I think....Aishwarya has the stronger list. DP was getting there with her 2015 lineup, and then it all fizzled out with 2 or 3 films since then.
