Is Deepika's filmography stronger than Aishwarya's?

In Om Shanti Om I read Farah wanted Aishwarya first but SRK refused to work with her and dropped her from many films including OSO. Farah then searched someone who resembles Aishwarya's glamour. She then cast Deepika.

Deepika's first film is also called "Aishwarya". She has always been a replacement for Aishwarya from the very first film.

Does Deepika have better films than Aishwarya?

Not yet. It can be but not yet. I haven't seen a Deepika film that might be remembered the way people remember Raincoat 17 years later. I loved Piku but Raincoat was better. Aish's SLB characters set a standard for the beautiful herione that Deepika didn't touch. So Aish's SLB movies were better. Aish's bad movies are weaker than Deepika's but her better movies are better than Deepika's as well.

We will see when Deepika will be less active we will be more objective right now she s the number 1 but I think aishwarya will be remembered more for her beauty while Deepika is more succesfull at box office

That will depend on how long Deepika survives in the industry. Aishwarya, at the age of 47 now, is still active. Let's see if Deepika can sustain till that age.

If we were to compare right now I guess Aish is a tad bit ahead.

P.S. - Didn't know Aishwarya was first choice for Shantipriya. 😳Should I believe it?😆 Didn't Farah always insist that they were searching for a fresh new face whom audience will see as the star, the dream girl Shantipriya & not the star she already is and zeroed in on Deepika?

Deepika has gotten more opportunities and varied work - but she hardly lived up to expectations. Other than 2-3 movies she's never really impressed me.

Aishwarya would've made Bajirao/Padamavat more epic. Deepika was weak in these movies, especially in the dancing where she came across as stiff to me. I was just watching Nimbooda Nimbooda the other day and was blown away.

Aishwarya Rai will always be more iconic, but I think Deepika's films have the slight edge - but this is mainly due to her being most active during a better time of film-making.

Hindi cinema has evolved so much in the last 5-6 years. Ash was very active during 1999-2003 which was not the greatest time artistically. DP has films like Chhapaak, Piku, Tamasha, Ram-Leela, Finding Fanny, Padmavati which make a stronger case, maybe because they are closer together, whereas Ash had a great run with HDDCS (1999), Devdas (2002) in the early days, then a gap, and then Guru (2007), Jodhaa Akbar (2008), Guzaarish (2010).

Final thoughts- both ladies' talents have been largely wasted. Once they hit their peak, the industry DOES NOT KNOW what to do with them.

Maybe in 15-20 years time, actresses will be on par with the way SRK, Aamir, Akshay have been allowed to have consistent 25-year careers. Unfortunately Aishwarya, Deepika, and many others have come before this is normalised.

Deepika's done interesting work, but SLB has done her no favours. She would have shined much more if not for his films. Whereas for Aishwarya, SLB had the opposite effect.

Overall Aishwarya has an amazing oeuvre, she's worked with almost every top director and did great work across 4-5 industries. Deepika can get there if she can rock her next 3 years. The Deepika of 2012-15 needs to come back.

I am a DP fan but can't agree more on this. Aishwarya's waist in nimbooda 😳. Aish oozes femininity when she dances while Deepika is stiff. Aish would have looked better for sure and her dialogue delivery is better than Deepika.
