I agree with you in theory. But some people are incapable of letting go of the past. Whether it be the loss of a loved one, health or career (SRK in Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna). You can't tell them to "get on" with life. People process grief in their own time. You can only provide support and sometimes even that's not enough (Madhuri in Devdas).
I get that some people take more time than others to heal and move on, but people eventually do move on over time at least in real lives. You only have one life, after all. I was talking about love in the movie's context more than anything else. If someone fixates on something to the point of grounding their life to a halt, it's obviously a problem and they probably need help. Devdas was a stupid character, and I'm no fan of that either. All I'm trying to say is that SRK in ADHM is not even grieving, he is in love with her and acting like he has the whole loaf of love when it's not even close. Ash is his ex-wife and clearly doesn't feel the same way about him anymore and is sleeping with Ranbir. So him acting like an aashiq and reciting shayari's on her didn't go down well with me. Romanticizing unrequited love and obsession has been a recurring theme in Bollywood movies and I wish they stopped doing that cuz there is nothing pleasant or romantic about it.
