Was Saba the only likeable character in ADHM?

Ae Dil Hai Mushkil had two very unlikeable characters - Ayan and Alizeh, one of whom was pining for an unworthy man and the other stuck in a hopeless rut of unrequited love.

Saba according to me was easily the most graceful, nurturing character in the entire film. Ayan sought solace in her company as a heartbroken man and she gave him that much-needed companionship without any strings attached.

Even she let go of him in a graceful manner, without any drama, even though she had developed feelings for him.

Do you think she was the only likeable character in the film?

Unpopular opinion I think but I didn't like Saba. I don't know why she existed in the movie at all other than to add a beautiful face, and some hot scenes. Oh and to create audience interest. She wrote the songs he sang but it wasn't such a crucial point. He could've met a random man in the subway who could give him the songs and the story wouldn't change much.

I really liked Alizeh. Except for the time when Alizeh goes back to Fawad's character. That was annoying

I found Alizeh as annoying as Ayan. Her love for Fawad's character was so out of sync with her otherwise bohemian persona, and not only that, she sugarcoated that love and made it appear like a once-in-a-lifetime thingie was so absurd.

She was there for glam purposes, but she is the only likeable out fo the lot and ofcourse, as Maroon said, the pistachio blazer too deserves some love😆

Well SRK is SRK but his dialogue of ek tarfa pyaar being the most beautiful thing in the world was bullshit.

The movie was toxic. If I had to choose from the toxic circle then SRKs character. He was so in love with Saba but didn't overcrowd her with his presence also so amusingly territorial about her.

Totally with you on this. There's absolutely nothing romantic or charming about unrequited love. People usually move on to someone else after a while anyway. That's why I really don't get the way they romanticize "unconditional love" of such aashiq's who are unable to move on as if that's enough for anyone to get by in life.

Our life's finite and spending it obsessing over a person instead of living your life is a colossal waste of time and missed opportunities, and I wish movies did a better job shedding light on that side of life too.

I agree with you in theory. But some people are incapable of letting go of the past. Whether it be the loss of a loved one, health or career (SRK in Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna). You can't tell them to "get on" with life. People process grief in their own time. You can only provide support and sometimes even that's not enough (Madhuri in Devdas).
