Yes he was going to die, but paro and devdas just wanted to meet one last time and they were not allowed to do that, thats what hurts about the ending, he would have died happily and peacefully in her arms but he died alone with no one around him
you are right. even if paro and dev had seen each other before death they would not have united as dev was going to die.it's just that people wished to see dev atleast getting a glimpse of paro before his death like he wished.it makes a huge difference.all the dying patients too wish to die only after seeing the people they love.
when devdas was made into a television it happened

The fact that they weren’t able to in the end is what made the movie 🤷🏽♀️

This is such a common thought I have watching movies 😆
Did anybody else find the chase scene funny?
Btw they didn’t meet in the novel.
This movie didn’t stay true to the original story, didn’t retain the essence of the story, but for some reason they kept the original ending.
Dev D is a beautiful film. Devdas is trash.

Maybe it's because I'm totally prosaic, but I found Devdas, the character, utterly unsympathetic.
Whiny idiot had most things in life, yet everything was "poor me." Yes, his father was tough... welcome to the world of rest of India.
Then, he proceeded to be trashy to a second woman who showed interest.
In a final fit of selfish pique, he went to the home of his MARRIED former lover to die dramatically in front of her husband and family.
Total loser.

You nailed it. For the life of me, I don't understand what these two magnificent women found in that whiny loser. And he didn't have to die alone. Chandramukhi was ready and willing to be there for him.So was his best buddy Chunni Babu and his servant. But no he had to make a scene.
sabki pagar mein se paose kaato over acting ke..😡..Aish ki chavanni...Shahrukh ki adhanni aur SLB ka poora ek rupiaaa kaato itni gandi acting karwane ke liye...😵
