It’s to show how people are the same everywhere, it does not mean it’s right though

Still, Americans are exceptional when it comes to ignorance of other countries.

The point is it’s the same everywhere, we cannot be bothered to learn about our own country and Americans are expected to know about people all over the world cz people from all over the world come here

BTW if U think Americans have poor knowledge of geography and the rest of the world now, it used to be much much much worse pre 911

Nope sorry, that’s lazy. It’s like saying South Americans are all the same when they’re not. The fact that they don’t understand basic concepts of continents blows my mind. There are literally 7 continents (Asia, Africa, Europe, North and South America, Australia and Antartica) I’d argue pretty easy to distinguish? So do they think India is its own continent? I promise you the average educated Indian is able to distinguish which continent a country belongs to much better and we don’t even have “people come from all around the world” as you said.

Not sure about jhal frezi, but vindaloo is a a classic Anglo-Indian and Goan cuisine. In fact, pulao got re-invented by the Anglos and the whole cocnept of 'kofta' was developed by them.

Hell, we even have Nargisi Kofta, our own version of Scotch Eggs. 😆

Problem for the U.S. is it has so many ethnicities, and everyone cribs about Americans not knowing anything about their culture.😆

How much does the average Indian know about Nigerculture ture or Romanian or Filipino life?

I don't think this comparison is valid. While US does have a lot of people from different ethnicities, they are also quite prominent in their visibility. They are part of their society and have been for some time. Same with UK.

I would understand an average Indian knowing anything about the niger culture, the Romanian or Filipino life because it is very unlikely that they would ever meet a person belonging to these groups in India. But if an average Indian doesn't know the culture of say Punjabis, Bengalis or Marathis, even a tiny bit while being Indian all their lives, then that's an issue.

Prominence doesn't matter. Own culture is what everyone focuses on.

I don't know of any ethnicity that isn't represented in the U.S. Practically speaking, they cannot be expected to know about all.

Also, Indians are a teeny tiny minority in the U.S. no matter what Bollywood would have you believe. 2.7 million in a country of 328 million. 0.82%.

Not to brag, but Indians have a much better knowledge of Geography compared to Americans in general. Heck, most countries are better-educated about the world than Americans.

Are you sure the AVERAGE Indian has any more knowledge of the world than the AVERAGE American?

How so? How much does the average desi know about the world? Not talking about your engineering college type with sights set on MBA. A typical Indian... how much would he know about even the U.K.?
