#ActAgainstAbuse: Take A Stand With Femina Against Domestic Violence

The number of domestic violence cases has doubled up in India ever since the lockdown. While some families are enjoying their time together under one roof, there are many cases where women who are forced to live with their abusers day in and day out because of this situation.

According to the National Family Health Survey, 86 per cent of women in India are subjected to domestic violence, out of which, 77 per cent keep quiet about it. The pandemic has unfortunately served as an opportunity for the abusers to inflict violence on women fearlessly since it is difficult for them to go out and seek help amidst a global virus outbreak. Not anymore, it is time to put a permanent stop to it, and here’s what you can do to a victim of physical abuse.

Oh man, this is so sad, but expected. Those women who are in desk related jobs, I really hope their employers are offering the most vulnerable an opportunity to come into work. We need more campaigns, helplines, organisations to help these women. My office toilets used to have a helpline number to call inside the cubicle door, which I thought was a good idea.
