Katrina's popularity is overrated?

It's a given that she “survived” bollywood without having a single movie where she can be accused of acting. She had movies which can be dubbed commercially successful. She is gorgeous, achingly beautiful and has a wonderful screen presence. She is the perfect showpiece in a masala entertainer where the hero needs someone pretty beside him.

But what about the fact that in most of her successful movies, she piggy-backed on the actor's stardom? Her biggest hits are movies with SRK, Akshay Kumar and of course Salman Khan. The ONLY movies of hers which are hits other than these co-stars are New York, Race, ZNMD and Mere Brother Ki Dulhan. Anyone who has watched ZNMD, Race and New York will know she had precious little to do in these movies. Their success cannot be attributed to her.

In fact, is she the contributing reason for any single movie's success? I don't think so. She has never done any female-centric movie, so her box-office pull cannot be gauged.

Yep. I like her as a person but her acting is average at best and absolutely awful at worst!

I do feel like if it wasn’t for bhai getting her plenty of chances in her early days (when her acting was legit terrible) and making her a known face, she would have been a Nora Fatehi who is only known for being pretty and dancing well.

But the sad thing is when her acting started improving, she lost her looks, (which were most of her appeal)... and unfortunately Kat’s acting never got good enough for her looks to not matter anymore 🤷🏽‍♀️

That said she is and was always miles and miles better than others like Jacqueline Fernandez, Nargis Fakhri, etc who tried to copy her, as Kat has a genuinely pleasant personality, that comes across both on screen and off screen

I don't know about it but she isn't "Achingly beautiful", Never felt that "Wow.. She's gorgeous" for her and I do crush hard on beautiful women ☺️

She is just an average actor

Not as an actress, but as a star she was insanely popular.

These no excuse to her acting prowess... But I think popularity and acting prowess are almost mutually exclusive. There are a lots of good actors no one would recognize.

Katrina's popularity isn't over rated... She's been in many highly successful film's... So people know her...ergo she's "popular"... More so than most other actors were even at their peak.

Coming to star power, yes she's piggy backed a lot of superstars over the years but film's definitely benifitted from her presence. It's a fact that there was a time when people would go to the theatres to see her... I've heard many of friends wanting to go to a movie for her.

Also songs featuring her did a lot for the promotion of her films. They were on music channels ALL the bloody time.

Brand deals usually are a good measure of popularity and Kat had lots of brands... Still does infact.(the PR securing deals for the nepo kids to inflate popularity thing is fairly newer phenomenon)

Anytime she had film's with the younger gen actors(at the time), she was definitely the main draw...

Yes, she hasn't done any "female centric film's" but she knew her audience base...no point falling on her face trying to so something she knows wouldn't work out, noe?
