I read something about confirmation bias yesterday. Something that we're all guilty of, and more this thread, more clearly so.

How do u ensure an outsider “get his due” if

1. Film Production Houses are all private business owned by individuals

2. Selection based on audition is subjective To individual taste

3. Supply is more than demand in terms of actors available for a specific part...like kashyap said, there is a huge line of u wanna get launched by a big production house and get maximum exposure

how do u cut out bias, favouritism from this ? How is merit defined?

Yes we all understand the pains of an outsider but how do u propose to make their life easier?

When so many people don't even acknowledge the problem, why are you asking for a solution? There is no "solution" as of now. That doesn't mean expressing the problems that inherently exist in b'wood is not worthwhile. You have to accept discussions that defy immediate solutions, especially when it's systemic. Calling these people out to the point where they think twice before engaging in their buffonery is a good start, I'd say.

One concrete solution is also not always in the cards. Just by stringing together words and saying "What's your solution, then?" at the end doesn't make the question a good one. It makes the inquirer either a fool or ...well, a petulant child who just wants an easy answer.

In this thread, it's that one statement made by Kashyap. SSR didn't pick up his calls. 😆 But all the other claims floating around the internet is just water off their backs... amazingly enough.

The solution could be quota system.

Another solution is government taking control all production house.

Levy more fine or tax if certain numbers of outsiders are not signed in the movies.

if u dunt know what is the end state or outcome of this outrage then what exactly are u outraging about? One would be an even bigger fool to shoot darts without a target 🎯

Still doesn’t address any of the points u are supposedly claiming to fight against ..nepotism , favouritism , bias, groupism ...

Yes ppl will like some better than the other and work with them...how does one define who is “the better actor” when hiring someone apart from a personal preference? what “merit” are u fighting for, when u claim 1000s of actors are better than an aliaa bhatt or Ranbir ...who decides that? it’s a qualitative assessment and subject to individual opinion...

So what is this merit ur asking everyone to consider when hiring actors for a job?

Exactly, we choose and decide who is speaking the truth.

Anurag has articulated himself well and suits the narrative, so everything he says is the utmost truth😆

And Sushant isn't the good person some are making him to be based on this interview. Khair, doesn't matter. He can't defend himself anymore...not that he could when he was here either.

Sigh if only the people had control over who they watched..

Oh no wait ...they do

Are you kidding me or are you kidddddding me? 😆 Some people were jailed here for trying to get their kids to a prestigious school without the merit to back them up. To some here, that must be realllly atrocious.

As far as acting goes, yes, it can't be quantified. But do you seriously not see anything wrong with how things operate in bollywood? 😆 I'm sorry, but you bringing up the whole quantifying merit thing as if that's the be-all-end-all of this debate makes no sense here. There are a lot of other things also being said along with asking people to given some consideration to tangible things at the very least. You can nitpick and sound like a broken record asking people again and again how they quantify acting, but that's not the moot point here. Acting is subjective and one man's trash is another man's treasure. That still doesn't do anything to address how people are cornered and bullied there.

I mean, what's the point of even discussing this with someone who is desensitized to their atrocities to the point where they start asking people what this outrage is about to begin with. 😆
