Yeah, agreed. But they mainly like fair desi skin, not the type of skin an actual white person has. The only reason Kat is accepted is that she is dark by white people standards. She can easily pass for a fair Indian girl. There's a big difference in how she looks compared to someone like Nicole Kidman.

Nicole is pale even by HW standards.. most Indians will not mind looking white-white like say, Megan Fox who doesn't pass off as Indian by features or colour

That Brit Amy Jackson was in a whole bunch of movies, despite such limited acting ability

That's why it's weird to put white people on a pedestal when they caused so much harm to India. India was the richest country once upon a time and it was looted by the British until it became a "third world" country.

I get that Indians are awe of white skin but my point is it you want to bring Stockhome syndrome then don't do any business with Britain and their people. Why she had BF once upon a time? Isn't it her hypocrisy?

Most of those foreign imports excepts for Katrina are not a significant names. Again what it has to do with Stockhome syndrome. Aise to she must have suffered from same syndrome when she had BF.

Amy Jackson is a big name down south. I'm sure I might have missed a few.

You cannot escape the opinion that we ARE prejudiced towards white skin (the point she was trying to make by using Stockholm Syndrome analogy).

That's true, if she considers it stockholm syndrome to associate with the British at all then she should also stay away from them unless she admits she also suffers from the same syndrome. 🤔

My point is exactly about Stockhome syndrome. She herself has British BF. It's about her intention too. She raised the issue to bring the heat on the actors like Khans and Alia who has regular Indian look.

But they aren't the same!
See as a person she CAN fall in love for a British guy.

But as a society how can billions be attracted to a skin type?

She was on the backfoot due to the British BF, but she doesn't think a lot when speaking I guess 😔

Also, when taking the names of Khans (who're pathans) she should have included Kapoors (who're also pathans) so she would have sounded politically correct. I'm now frustrated koi usko daant dapat kar training kyu nahi deta on public speaking. :(

Ah your comment makes sense too.

Although she does come across as very Islamophobic in general that's why people are calling her out for what she said, she had said something bad about Pakistani people too

I agree on that. And the irony of it all.

I have a very good Pakistani friend who was pro-Kangana. And I was pro-Hrithik in the showdown. We once spent literally an hour shouting on the top of our lungs trying to prove our point.

I'll be clear, I do not subscribe to her political or religious views at all. But as a human being I have far more empathy towards her than I had a few weeks back.

Love of white skin in the subcontinent predates the Brits. Ancient texts may have dark-skinned heroes, but they're usually shown as exception rather than rule. Rig Veda actually has a section where Indra gloats about defeating dark-skinned Krishna and driving away the dark hordes of Asuras.

It's convenient to blame everything on the evil colonizer (and they WERE evil) but not so comfortable to look your own prejudices in the eye.

On topic, how does that make the Khans in any way, shape, or form foreigners? If Kangana is claiming their Afghan ancestry does that, she might perhaps want to take a look at maps of ancient kingdoms. Afghanistan area was considered very much a part of the subcontinent. If some of them migrated southeast and made current India their home, they're very much Indian.

I can understand her peeve against acceptance of Amy Jackson/Katrina types since they are clearly here for the work and justifiably consider themselves Brit. Each has a valid visa, I presume. Kangana's peeve is therefore with the public as far as the ladies are concerned.

Sure but many people do like white people a lot for their skin and as India has history of being colonized by the British, it's just strange to put them on a pedestal like that.
