in the corporate world if a CEO hires his/her unqualified offspring after interviewing and rejecting better candidates OR if they get rid of good staff to push in their Phupu's damad, can they even get away with it? they are answerable to board of directors/shareholders aren't they? can they really get away with Bollywood level of excluding qualified outsiders and inner politics? there would be employment/business laws etc...

What solution is anyone suggesting ??

The economic divide In Bollywood between the have and have nots is pretty huge. But even so the haves don’t have to help out have nots just cause “it’s the right thing to do”

An if anyone thinks they can convince them well I wonder if they let me borrow some money 💰 😂

People refer their kids, use their networks everywhere. Sure. But Bollywood is like a big inbred family, I don't think any industry/profession is that ridiculous. 😆

I'm not sure what we are supposed to do, just accept it and move on? People just dont have an issue with nepotism, its about the bullying and politics. Shradha is a nepo kid but her followers increased after this because she is genuinely sweet and doesnt make obnoxious comments or has Kjo pull strings for her. I know its just not Kjo who does vile stuff but doesnt mean we shouldn't call him out. Look at what happened with the Disney announcements this week. People called them too. People called out Mahesh Bhatt too.

Again, I'm not sure what solutions Jimmy is providing to address this issue.

The problem is that people are clumping nepotism with bullying, politics , casting couch etc....none of this is acceptable...I mean we are not even going to debate on it...its plain wrong and I don't think anyone is objecting against these issues.....Some of us are just saying that nepotism can be justified in some cases....even people who are against nepotism....are OK with Shraddha just because she is sweet and doesn't come along as obnoxious?? Nepo product toh fir bhi hai na....the number of flops she has given....an outsider would have been wiped out....so just because she is sweet she gets a free pass....that is what I am saying people are mixing everything up...are u against nepotism...or are u against bullying/politics/slandering etc....I can bet on that a 100% of us are against the latter part...nepotism is still debatable.

Jimmy is adorable but this take on the ongoing debate is reflective of the despicable chalta hai mentality Indians possess.

Oh it's everywhere and it's futile to fight it. So, let's just accept it. 🤪

He is right, it does exist everywhere. I have worked in many places, among the smartest of people. Like really smart with the highest degrees possible. And yet, they bitch too. They are insecure of each other. Heck in that whole company of more than 5000 people, I might have come across 500 and out of these only 4 people I have met that are decent and don't engage in all these politics.

These people might be highly educated, they also get involved in black magic just because their colleagues got the project they wanted. Yeah, I have seen it all. I am so happy in my own place. After working there, I was like if this is what educated people do then degrees are worthless! I was happy my parents were too poor to afford higher education for me.

All the bullying, bribing, extortion and slandering that occur to protect nepotist products have recently come to light, and there is favoritism there too. They're not separate crimes conducted for different reasons in the current scheme of things, so they have to be clubbed together in this particular discussion.

Unless you're suggesting that we use a different term? Does "bullying" alone suit your sensibility better--to discuss this issue? Doesn't make sense to make such demands.

Sometimes one individual's wrong conduct gives a group of people a bad name and the other innocent members of the group have to face some of those negative consequences. People are not being unreasonable here -- they are entitled to raise their concerns and discourage putting people through unrealistic agony and suffering to push the agendas of nepotism products.

On one hand, there are long winded arguments that life is not fair, chin up and move on, but the same people never get sick of complaining about arguments against nepotism, which is in fact one of those inherently wrong things that's currently dragging down indian cinema altogether. If you can ignore nepotism, why can you not ignore valid arguments against it? Why is it offending your sensibilities so much? Why are you not practicing what you're preaching? Please turn a blind eye and allow the criticisms to flow freely. Can you do that?

Sorry, but if an IAS officer wants his son to become the same, he cannot get it done unless his son works just as hard or if not more. That goes for many many other jobs.

Inheritance is a different thing.

There won't be an overnight solution to this issue just like there wasn't an overnight solution to inherently wrong things like slavery or incest or cast-system. The first step is to acknowledge that there is a problem to begin with.... we're not even there yet. 😆
