40-50 lakhs just stood out to me as a really low amount when there are headlines on alia, etc charging crores and cores for their underaverage performances. So it stood out to me and I said something. I didn't realize it was common practice with newcomers. One would think a person has enough qualifications if a YRF banner has decided to launch their career.

Actually all I see are extreme stances here. It's ridiculous the kind of treatment people want for new actors. It's like living in fantasy la la land.

40-50 lakhs is a small amount? Since when? If Sushant had stayed in engineering, he would have been earning 1 lakh a month at his age.

YRF always pays less compared to other production houses because they have a big name and everyone wants to work with them. SRK got 3 crores for Chak De India being the biggest star in the country. But 40-50 lakhs is too small for Sushant? Please!

Alia doesn't make huge money either. Varun has gone on record saying he feels bad for her and keeps encouraging her to increase her price. A big reason why Dharma keeps working with her is because she's cheap. There are some actors that keep bragging about how much someone is paying them but 99% of the time it is just their PR doing it for ego purposes. All their real money comes from ads and stage shows and other peripherals, not movies.

When was YRF known to pay big bucks for the 3 film deal?If I remember correctly the 3 film deal contract is for 1 crores only. This info I read ages ago...

Even SRK some years back said YRF pay him peanuts for movies. The reason it took them so long to get Aamir, Salman onboard for a movies was because of their chindiness... YRF was going through lean phase so they had to offer big money to Salman and Aamir and agree to their terms and conditions. Before ETT YRF never allowed vanity vans of stars inside YRF studios, stars had to use the makeup rooms of the studio par Salman made it a condition that he would only work if he can get his personal vanity van on the premises. They always were very rigid.

Since we're playing in extremes, let me tell you what you sound like. "Welcome to the real world of business. Bury your head in the sand and plod along like a good peasant." 😆 That's ridiculous too. So is the expectation to adjust to an ill culture where the tone at the top stinks.

We're also not talking about how much Sushant would have made as an engineer, but instead what others are offered for their first movies in the same industry. I'm truly curious. Not sure where your information or "knowledge" on their income is from, but Alia sure as hell hasn't been lowballed by anyone. Prepubescent Ananya charged 3 crores for SOTY 2, which was her debut, in the same world talented outsiders clearly work for almost free. It's interesting to think and talk about--that's how these issues are brought to attention.

There are two parallel universes going on here--within the same industry, same audience, same work--and one can't permeate the other. And you're asking people to wake up and smell the coffee. It's strange to think where that opinion even comes from.

Where do you know this from? There is absolutely no way she got paid 3cr for her debut movie. Many established actresses don't even make that much. Figures in the media are always exaggerated but in reality actors actually don't get paid much for films so Sushant's initial numbers (if true) seem pretty on point. Even RDJ was paid $500k and Gal Gadot only $300k for their first superhero films.

I'm quite sure that newcomers being launched by a big banner (budget dependent) are making relatively similar amounts whether they are from the industry or not. If anything, the males may earn more than the females due to gender pay disparity. Producers have gone on record to say that they hire star kids because they bring them free marketing, media coverage, etc. but other than that, there is no incentive to invest in them more because they have no success behind them.

You just made that up. Ananya has never ever spoken about how much money she got from Dharma. She would be a complete idiot if she let out that information at this stage in her career.

Sorry, the world is unfair. Even if insiders make more, that is just the way it is. Nobody was forcing outsiders to come into the field. They came into the industry because they want to make big bucks. Nobody owes them anything especially at the beginning. If they make it and get bigger, they will get the money they want.

😲

There's no way anyone would pay her that much. She should be glad that she was even launched by some like Karan.

There are plenty of articles online, not just one but multiple. All you gotta do is google Ananya-Pandey-debut-salary. Why are you so sure she didn't make that much though? Is it scandalizing? Yeah I think so too. No one else here is presenting corroborated facts but I'm genuinely curious if you have some inside details.😆

I understand why the incentive is less to invest on newcomers too but claiming that everyone is treated fairly etc. when all the evidences say otherwise (Alia, Ananya, etc) is just taking it too far.

Why would I make that up. 😆 Just google Ananya-pandey-debut-salary, the numbers will stare at you.

But that’s good yrf at least give chance to newcomers. And I really appreciate outsiders who struggled but still made it big, that’s why srk was always my favorite, I like Akshay too. Srk had to deal with costars calling him ugly, knocking on every door to get work, sleeping without a bed on the floor with wife but now he is the richest man in the world. We need more outsiders winning. Sadly I thought sushant was going to be the one. Life is unpredictable. Crazy year

All I found was a humour site so this is not credible for me. But if you still want to believe that, then Google says Janhvi and Ishaan made 60 lakhs for Dhadak so make of that what you want.

I never claimed everyone is treated fairly. I was simply giving reasoning as to why producers are most likely not paying newcomers vast amounts even if they come from a film family. Besides, why is Sushant even being compared to Alia/Ananya? They're a different gender, time, producer, etc. It's like we've forgotten that there were other male YRF debuts around Sushant's time too.
