His film glorifies police. Promoting such a thing when a police brutality incident has shook the nation is insensitive and in poor taste.
Just like you wouldn't promote a film where you glorify stalking, at a time when there is a real case of stalking that resulted in someone's death or acid attack.
It's tone deaf.

Huh? so is that what you got out of it?
Of course you should complain...I did..It was not easy, but I got some results...I have the satisfaction of trying at least...Like I said, its not comfortable and I knew you will laugh it off...Because that’s the general reaction...You just want to stay within your comfort level but want to bring about a change...HOW?
You tried, you got satisfaction, good for you. I have no intention of being the harbinger of change. If I go to the police to complain about passport verification, what happens? The police rejects my verification, I don't get my passport, can't go abroad for work. I decide to lead action against police for bribery. How many years does that last before it gives result if ever? 10?20?30? They actively harass me during that time because they can. Why shouldn't I rather be comfortable, give the bribe, live my life, earn money, spend it? Life's meaningless and difficult as it is. There is a change needed, I don't plan to bring it, I don't expect anyone else to bring it.
@light Blue bold: And which planet are they going to descend from?
As I said, I am not under any delusion that anything will change, so they can descend from Mars or Venus for all I care.
@Bold RED: I can’t even....What is the point of such acknowledging that will limit you to just whine about it but not find any solutions? 👎🏼
What is wrong with acknowledging something? Would you rather everyone pretend all police men are good and nice? Heck, people will decry any activists strong enough to fight this saying, not all police, they have agenda, they are criminals who don't want police.
EDIT: @Dark Blue: I read that just now...So you who is talking about the system overhaul, isn’t even willing to give a benefit of doubt to a person that he probably didn’t keep up with what’s going on in down south? This is not about Ranveer or any actor for that matter....The matter is much bigger and more serious than trivializing it to complaining about-oh such and such actor did not do the right thing...Of course and the TM should have not brought him in...But then this is not the first time she chose to shoot her gun from someone’s shoulder!
As I said I don't really care about what Ranveer said. I am saying that any PR agent would have known where this would have headed. Professional social media managers should be aware of the sentiment. If Ranveer posted it himself, it is still as stupid. He is a brand and he should have thought it through.

You don’t need an environment to not promote a movie which is glorifying stalking.......Promoting a movie which glorifies police has nothing to do with police brutality......I am not going to hate on policemen who are protecting me everyday because some of them are deranged enough to abuse their powers....
It is not tone deaf....choose your battles wisely.....
Ranveer was dressing up like an alien and posting pics comparing himself to Heath Ledger to promote himself when his own wife was getting death threats. Current events happening in BW or the country have never mattered to him. So why expect anything different now?
I don't blame him either. He's just an actor and if he only wants to engage with people regarding his movies and roles and nothing else, it's his choice. He's allowed to keep it restricted to that. He doesn't have to give his opinion on every issue. Stop expecting actors to be our saviors and post on every topic that matters to us.
It's hard to please everyone anyway since everyone has different opinions and different concerns. It makes perfect sense why Ranveer and other actors don't want to get involved in anything because no matter what they do, someone will always be angry.

Correct but Bollywood has normalized stalking anyway, but to do it even on a day someone's died because of stalking? That's worse.
If it's about some of them, I'd agree. But this incident is indicative of a much larger rot in the system, that needs course correction.
And nobody asked you to hate on every policeman.
See...disregarding the semantics, we both agree that a change is needed....We both agree that it isn’t comfortable to do something about it...We both also agree that Police as an institution is still needed...We agree on more points than we disagree...I guess that’s enough to close this debate right here!👍🏼

They failed to normalize stalking for me....At least....
There’s nothing wrong with informing people about a movie which glorifies police.....we are not hating on every policeman....for something which was done by people who abuse their powers....Yes?
There is space for a complete overhaul in system...which involves timely psychological testing and sensitization of police system.....the problem is MUCH bigger than an Instagram post which had nothing to do with that incident.....

People are just looking to get offended. Twitter, especially, is one such place where people are having constant breakdowns.
I don't think there is anything tone deaf about his post, he was just talking about it's re-release in Australia. 🤔
But yeah, if people want to get offended, go ahead.
Actually, desi people need to get offended AND they need to get offended, more often. Desis are the worst offenders when it comes to making tone deaf remarks and lacking self-awareness in general. They literally call people fat, thin, dark, pale and god knows what else, to their faces. They have no qualms about making insensitive comments to their own family members about being married, not being married, getting divorced, not having any children, having only female children, children being married to someone of another religion or caste. The list goes on forever. We all know this because we are all desis, does not matter what part of the world we live in. I mean it's over the top psycho shit.
I am so glad this generation everywhere is wreaking a total havoc by taking their pain and anger to social media. Collective outrage creates change. Why else would that company change Fair and Lovely's name otherwise? I mean it's been fair and lovely since before I was born. They always knew it was wrong. But they change it now, because they want to avoid international backlash.
As far as the OP is concerned, I have no expectations from this husband-wife duo. They're both experts at making tone deaf comments.

I don't see attaching names of every police movie where police are shown in positive light, as the point you are saying. Your point is nice, but what I see is a simple trivializing and sensationalistic social media trail, which is doing nothing in favour.
People should talk about the police corruption, but bringing up a freaking stupid cop comedy action movie as if it's existence does change anything, like people will forget about the rampant corruption in our system due to Simbaa.
And all I can see is trivializing of a situation because some "activists" want to replicatt the George Floyd/BlackLiveMatters protests type situation in India, they tried it with CAA arrests, couldn't, so let's move on the next news.
Sorry, you can conclude that I am a privileged biased asshole of the highest order who doesn't feel the pain of others, but what I see is that the genuine cry for justice taken over by charlatans who protests not for the cause, but for the protests itself.
